It was never going to be that. It is what the original Centauri Carbon SHOULD have been. From the initial reviews I've seen, it appears they cut a lot of corners to get it to that price point but the printer still appears to be no slouch, either. At least as good as the CC1.

The DJI money may change that in the next product cycle. However, with the US being the biggest market for 3d printers and those new state laws being pushed to severely limit 3d printing, nobody yet knows how that will affect future product design and investment either.

How is this printer compared to bambu p1s combo? I am about to make a first 3d printer purchase for my son so any recommendation is appreciated! Thank you!

If you can afford the Bambu, get the Bambu. Period.

Thank you. I guess it's better to purchase a product that works right out of the box for a beginner.

I have had the the Elegoo Centauri Carbon over a year and it has 100% worked straight out of the box. It prints excellent and just as good as my friend with a bamboo X1C (I would claim better because I don't have as many fails as he does, but this is highly user subjective). I'm ordering the CC2 today.

This is the regular price, not a deal just a new product.

I have both the original Centauri Carbon and the Bambu P1S. The P1S was my 1st printer, however, the CC would have been fine for a 1st printer as well. For non color prints I almost always opt to use my CC 1st (in my testing it prints faster than the P1S and handles specialty filaments better), which may not come in to play with the CC 2. My 16 year old nephew got the CC as his 1st printer a few months back and he's been printing non stop. A couple benefits (which I generally don't do anyways) is printing direct from the Handy App and slicing direct from Makerworld (you can slice direct from Printables for the CC using Orca). The P1S is also quieter than the CC. The CC2 is supposed to be quitter than the CC1 though.

I've been using Octoeverywhere to monitor my CC (and Bambu) prints. I'm not sure if there will be an official Elegoo app for the CC2.

I ordered the CC2 this morning.

Just get an a1 not an a1 mini. The mini works great but the build plate size gets kinda annoying since it's small. Get the a1 with the ams system for multiple color. If you really want to save. But it used like I did. I got one for 240. I got a second one for 450 with another a1 printer but I'm gonna sell it. Also bambulab software is friendly ready and the phone app works great.

And, if you get the A1, don't get the AMS Lite which only works with the A1. Instead, if you can afford it, get the AMS 2 Pro which also works with the A1. That way, if you ever upgrade to a higher end printer like the P1S or P2S, the AMS can be used for the new printer instead of having to buy another one.

It's also worth noting you aren't stuck at 4 colors like you would be with the AMS Lite, you can stack AMS / AMS 2 Pro's unlike the AMS Lite

Fails don't exactly account for printer error. Most of the times it's the user unless we are talking about Creality lol

I want aware that the regular AMS pro 2 worked with A1. That's awesome. I hated to AMS lite set up as it takes up so much space

I have owned the CC1 for 6 months, and am not happy with the printer. Issues I have had (all non-user error):

-Motherboard fan failed, replacement took 1 month from China
-USB-C print head cable stopped working, replacement took 3 weeks from China, this is a known issue
-Wifi sending from Orcaslicer only works 50% of the time. Other 4 printers work flawlessly
-The exhaust fan automatically turns on during print, cannot disable (known bug in 1.46). This makes getting a 50C+ chamber temp impossible
-Running the extruder in reverse doesnt work sometimes, so cannot unload filament sometimes (also known bug in 1.46)
-As the printer is closed source non-klipper, I had to buy a raspberry pi just to connect it to Octoeverywhere to get remote monitoring. This is pretty ridiculous, remote monitoring is essential for safety!

Overall, even after being out a year, it seems they have abandoned development of the CC1. No firmware updates since 1.46 even with numerous bugs. And those were all bugs that the Opencentauri team was able to fix with their free unpaid volunteer-developed community firmware! I am switching over to snapmaker
