Very mixed reviews on this, may depend on the panel type or how it's wired. Going with Home Depot on this deal as the return policy is much better than Amazon.

i have the klein one for about this price range. is this one much better? With the klein i've had issues not being able to find the breaker. it would just ring at multiple breakers.

Bad light bulb or appliance/motor can trip breaker when energized. Perhaps 1-2 times in a decade. I simply unplug the device and flip the breaker back to the ON position to restore the power. No need to waste $ on any tool unless the breaker does not stay ON.

I had a lot better results with this Fluke breaker finder than the Klein tools one. The Klein tools one required 2 passes over the panel, first a learning pass and then a detection pass. But it'd always beep on 3-4 different breakers on the 2nd pass. The Fluke doesn't need a learning pass and it'd always settle on one breaker after 2 passes. The Fluke also doubles as a non-contact voltage detector. I did like that the Klein tools one had built in storage for the transmitter though.

Have the Klien and if the panel is not a spaghetti mess it works very well. I use it to track down mislabeled circuits labeled by licensed Union Electricians. The job was said to have been "done by Union Licensed Electricians" but probably some 80 year old licensed Union Electrician living g miles away signed off on the job for a fee. Go figure.

Get an Edison screw in to outlet adapter. Screw it in to the bulb socket and plug in the tracer.

I'm at the age where my tolerance for purchasing cheap questionable tools is declining rapidly. Hopefully this is better than the $25 one I have in my electrical bag atm.

Confirmed. This Fluke is much better than the Kleen Tools version. Tested both side by side. Fluke gives clearer signal which only indicate one breaker vs multiple breakers like the Kleen Tool

I'm babysitting a house with aluminum wiring and shotgun-shell fuses. Power is off at the meter. There are very few circuits, all unlabeled. There is a hardwired pump with a control panel that I'd like to supply with external power. The control panel is on a post that is leaning over above a mud hole. It looks complicated. I'm wondering if there is a chance that there is an outlet on the same circuit that I can run a babykiller cord to. How much of a gamble is it that this, with an alligator clip adapter, will be reliable enough to definitively rule this out (or in)?

You can buy a set of this from Milwaukee, Klein or any other brand for much less and it will safely do the same thing!!
There is nothing special about this fluke one

I bought one of these a year ago or so and returned it. Couldn't even remotely detect the correct breaker. Ended up just plugging in a light to each socket testing it that way and found that the readings from this Fluke were way off.
