I keep looking at this because I want to upgrade from my Fenix 6x. There's a few retailers that have the same price on eBay with best offers available too. Potential to get it cheaper.

If it had physical buttons and a slightly larger battery - everything else about this watch is AMAZING. As it stands, I sent mine back because it's worthless for track intervals with no buttons, but the maps are tremendous with the giant screen

The Garmin website has it for $600 for a while. Some insurance companies offer a 20% off coupon for Garmin watches, bringing the price to $480. And Garmin states you can use HSA funds for it, potentially making it $480 before federal and state income taxes. Just things to consider.

Make sure you understand the drawbacks. DC Rainmaker testing shows 2 days of "active" usage. This is not your typical Garmin watch.

And that's why it's heavily discounted. Waiting for the X2. It's unnecessarily thin. I don't mind to double the thickness to make the battery life comparable to forerunner 970.

20% off I have takes it from the full $700 price, so YMMV

Sometimes I think there are 2 warring factions within product development at Garmin. One faction creates reasonably good value watches like the X1, the new Enduro, some of the instinct line, and some of the cheaper vivoactive watches. And then there's the faction churning out $700 forerunners, $1200 fenix's, and the absurd diving/maritime watches that only people with too much money to care about the ever inflating prices will ever buy.

This is an expensive watch but considering its a new form factor with undoubtedly some R&D behind it, the premium materials and features, this feels like its arguably the best bang for buck high end sports watch available right now.

I stand by what I said. You can read DCRainmakers reviews which state the same thing I and many others said. They were close to a good watch, but this isn't it.

How does this watch compare with Fenix 7X Solar as they are similar in costs. I understand the battery life is going to be much different but was more curious on the individual sensors and their accuracy
