Want for a top brand blood pressure monitor for under $15?

One Amazon listing (Seller/Shipper=Amazon.com) has Beurer BM27 at only $15 (MSRP $30), with 10-30% coupon on page that makes it $11-14 pre tax.
(for me last week it was $17 - 30% coupon = $12)

Features:
  • upper arm adjustable cuff
  • Irregular Heart Rate Detection
  • color-coded WHO risk indicator
  • no bluetooth but "Scan & Save" method to save in the phone app (reads the screen reading by way of phone camera)
  • history = 4 users x 30 readings each
  • non-backlit LCD with big digits for the BP
  • 4x AA batteries (included)
Beurer is a top brand in BP monitors, well-known in EU (German engineering, made in China). It is no Omron but on par with the likes of A&D, iHealth, Homedics and Microlife.

Amuzingly, the same shipper/seller Amazon seems to peddle that same Beurer BM27 for $30 at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4PKQL2

My experience with the "Scan & Save" technology on iPhone - that is, adding measurements by pointing phone camera at the device screen:
  • download HealthManager Pro app by Beurer from iOS app store
  • tap [Scan & Save] button (don't try to add as BT device)
  • select "BM 27" under the camera window
  • possibly enable the Flash if not well lit area (it's a mixed bag - the flash causes reflections)
  • point at the BM 27 screen
It works... kind of:
  • It reads Sys/Dia and Pulse values well
  • it fills randomly IHB (cardiac arrhythmia) and HSD (resting indicator)
  • does not read date/time values (e.g. history log), assumes current time
  • luckily gives you a chance to edit any value before saving
  • can sync to HealthKit (Apple Health) repository

i see a lot of them do this. it's so if you stumble on the expensive one you might buy it anyway. all of these brands are just rebrands from the same chinese factory. with something like blood pressure, i think it's easy enough that even a cheap ass one can be accurate. after all, before this it was literally based on a human counting it right?

Best thing you can do is take this to the Doctors office and test this vs their machine. If it's very close then it's good, off by 4-5 points = bad monitor.

i've basically stopped shopping for myself and just relied on spies(ad workers masquerading as other users) to bring me supposed deals. in for one after discussing it with my dr(chatgpt). as if my greedy real life doctors will give me more than 5 mins to talk to him about anything.

I was about to purchase but it does not have a backlit display and neither can be used without batteries, I like them to have a USB port to power it at home, batteries only while travel or outside home.

actually, this is not just any brand.
Regretfully SD staff has trampled my original post to produce "standardized"(?) form, missing most interesting part in the process. Go read my original post, it's hidden behind "original post" chevron on top. In part, i said:

I too, did not know of "Beurer" but after some research, now i do.

Check with your insurance before buying one of these. I have two blood pressure monitors and didn't pay for either of them (one through the VA and another through Teladoc with my new insurance provider). I had high-ish BP but am consistently below normal now. Weight loss does wonders!

That is true and I've done this a few times myself. The only thing is that many peoples BP goes up at the Dr's office. Having said that, I have (had) a few different BP monitors and my Beurer BM55 has been more in line with my Dr's readings than my Omrons. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of my Omrons, but it does what it is supposed to and does it well. I can't comment on the Beurer in this OP specifically though.

Back to $29.99. Apparently $15.49 was valid Jan 23-36 according to AMZN price history feature.

it's not the 36th of the month yet? 🤡
Bummer. Feels like "SD effect", spike of orders woke up s/o.

I see price was slumping since November (price managed by bot?)

PS. oh i see deal made it to Frontpage. "Well, there is your problem!"
