I don't think this is the case. Travelpro's warranty registration form requires filling out where the product was purchased. Woot is not an option (it is not an authorized reseller). In the Woot forums, Woot has also stated it is not an authorized reseller for TravelPro.

You "bragging" without saying how many days is moot. I can travel with just a backpack too in that case.

Got the Pilot Air for $65 a year back from their official website. This looks pricey

I really wanted to buy this, but most of my travel is by plane. This is a little big. Gotta hand it to them, they tell you right in the listing.

Here's the issue with this size. If you use it as luggage on a normal trip, it is overweight. I find the medium size checkin to be just right. You can pack it for a month or 2 trip and it just is at about 50 lbs which is the limit usually in coach. For this large size, its only good for the occasional move. We used one this size for moving our kids to college, sheets, comforter, pillow, large volume stuff that is light will fit in. But all you need is a cheap large suitcase, not something of this quality, Or buy those stuff at the store when you get there. That is a cheaper way. So not really much of a use case for this size esp since it often has an extra oversize/overweight fee..

Agree , a 28" luggage (including wheels) is all you need to max out at 50 lbs.

Travelpro gave me a ton of runaround when I tried to get something for a broken carry on that had a lifetime warranty from an authorized seller. Best I got was a small discount on a new one.

Having said that it served me great for years and has been through a lot. I got a new one on black Friday since I couldn't find anything to beat the capacity/weight ratio of the Maxlite.

This one's supposed to be premium but also heavier, not sure it's worth it.

I have witnessed people I know who traveled for 3 days carrying 2 29" luggages. I have done 2 weeks on a single 25" luggage. And it's not bragging. People who travel know how to do it, no matter how many days.
This is such an absurd take without more details. I pride myself in traveling light with just bringing a carry-on, within reason. I hate spending time at baggage claim and avoid it as much as possible.

Where are you traveling to and for how long? Big difference in what you can fit if packing for summer or frigid winter temps. I recently spent 12 days in Florida with my family in December. We had highs in the 80s and lows in the 40s. 40 degrees in Florida is difficult to pack for due to the humidity. We literally had to pack daytime summer outfits, swimming clothing, and evening layers, winter clothes, and jackets. For 12 days. That is a lot to pack. The winter clothing is very bulky. Zero chance fitting that all in a carry-on. Not to mention if the kids want to bring back some souvenirs.

Are you traveling for work? I always prefer to just travel with my carry-on. Unfortunately, in my industry, my required PPE (hardhat, hi-vis protective jacket, steel toe boots, etc.) takes up 75% of my carryon bag if I am traveling to a jobsite. If it is just a few days, I make it work. If there is a stop at the corporate HQ for meetings, I need to also bring slacks, wingtips, etc. No way to fit all of that, plus actual clothing for a few days in a carry-on and backpack.

Every situation is different. Sure, a lot of people overpack and bring home clothing they didn't wear. Live and let live. There is a market for bags this big, it isn't for you and that is ok. That doesn't mean this bag isn't useful for plenty of people.

It is cheaper to pay for a second checked bag than the oversize/overweight fees on a single bag on most airlines that I have checked.

I am not questioning carry on vs checked luggage. All I am saying is that if you need to check in a luggage, you should never need more than a 25-26" luggage. 1 day to 3 weeks, sun or snow, doesn't matter. The bigger the luggage the more you will stuff it unnecessarily. I travel a lot, United Premier 1k. Get a 25" inch expandable. It's not just about checking it in. What about when you get there? What if the best way to your hotel is train or metro? Try lugging that 29" inch around. You have a few of them and now you have to call an Uber XL.

I spent 10 weeks in Asia this year with a small carry on and a daypack, and still came back with 3 or 4 just in case clothing pieces that I never touched. My experience is that internationally it is much easier in my case to travel light.
That said, I have a legit use case for a large check in bag. My wife and I periodically use domestic discount carriers and would rather pay ~$30 for 1 large bag and share it rather than 2 carry ons for ~$20/ea.
Different tools for different jobs - all without judgement. They're just travel bags.

This is one of your mileage may vary topics. My wife has had a front zipper break on a 25" version of this same line multiple times and has had hers replaced replaced at least two times. But I also have a Travelpro outlet near me and I explained to him the issue and he was ready to swap it for me even if the warranty team did not.

My GF has one of these, she had to pay an extra fee on one of our trips. This thing is huge. That being said if your like her, better to pay the fee to check the 1 bag VS 2. And yes, for the same trip I have a carry on.
Correct, that is why I limit my wife to the 25" size which still is always at that 50lb limit at check in. With the 29", you will always have to pay an extra weight fee at a minimum.

Lifetime warranty means for as long as they make the product. Once they stop making it or no longer have parts available they will only offer you a discount towards the purchase of a new product.

On the Warranty - Since Woot is likely an unauthorized dealer and it may not have the Trusted Companion warranty, you can look at the math to see if this makes sense:
  • Standard Price: ~$485
  • Your Deal: $250
  • Savings: ~$235
Why this matters: The warranty you are losing is essentially an insurance policy against airline damage. By saving $235 upfront, it's kind of like self-insuring:
  • If a wheel breaks, a replacement part costs ~$30.
  • If a handle jams, a local luggage repair shop might charge $60–$80.
  • Even if you have to pay for two major repairs out of pocket, you are still saving money compared to buying it at full price.

so basically this is a 32" luggage, not 29" tall.
