The concept is sound, does anyone have any use case feedback? Some reviews say the spring tension isn't enough to keep the straight edge in place. Which obviously defeats the purpose

Yep, and I've had bad experiences with other brands (locking mechanism). Want to find a brand/model that's actually good but haven't taken the time to research yet

I have a similar model, and honestly if cutting sheet goods that don't have a thick edge, i just use trigger clamps on the ends.
