You have to pair at least 32G ram with 9950x, realistic you need 64G ram. And based current ram price, build a 9950x workstation is just a dream. 9950x need to be priced below $450 to be even considerable. otherwise, you probably better go back build a E5 2699v4 +64G ddr4 ecc workstation.

Regretting the purchase of 9800x3d as I do more than just gaming with my build. Honestly, it was overhyped at the time of my purchase by a bunch of YouTubers. This is the CPU I should've gone for.

The same CL30 PC5-48000 32 GB memory (2 x 16 GB) I purchased for $87 is now a whopping $480.

9950x3d is the best of both worlds, but pricey.

i was able to get 9950x3d+x870e tomahawk for $794 during BF. I was also able to get 20% back via paypal promotion, and end up to be around $635 pre tax.

That's exactly what I was thinking regarding the price. I couldn't see myself make a conscionable decision, pulling the trigger on a 9950X unless it's priced below $450. Hell, I literally bought my 9900X on sale for $306 during Prime Day last year.

What's wrong with the 9800x3d compared to the 9950x? Genuine question, looking into building a pc soon (I picked a bad time to build one)

What's your use case ? Most people benefit more from an x3d chip vs having more cores

I will die with my 4 eight gig sticks of team group t-force delta rgb ddr4 3200 i purchased in 2018, and i overpaid then. Infact i think it now back to the same price it was 8 years ago when they were getting investigated for price fixing.

Tough call on video editing use case . You might be better off with more cores but you'd have look at some benchmarks . For gaming "cache" is king so x3d hands down without a question

Saying 16 cores is not enough for video editing is insane. I have a 9900x 12 cores and it is literally powerful enough to have smooth timeline playback with 4k footage.

You can still fetch $400 on eBay for a used 9800x3d. Just sell yours and buy this for a cheap but effective upgrade. I also have the 9800x3d and I love it. I only game.
