These are not the correct saws for cutting off dowels. These saw blades extend (the set) on both sides. So they will scratch your work. What you want is a flush cut saw. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DD7M63BY

Another made in china clone. Hard pass. Good Japanese handsaws arnt made in china. It's probably a decent clone , but it still won't be worth it . If you get a decent Japanese saw you'll know the difference

For anyone confused, "Japanese" is the style of saw; not a reference to the country of origin.

Japanese-style saws cut on the pull stroke and are generally thinner, because tension keeps it straight.

Western-style saws cut on the push and are generally thicker or have a supporting spine to keep it from bending.

If it says "Japanese" but not "Made in Japan", it is 100% Chinese cheap clone. If it says "Made In Japan" but the white barcode label in the outer package has two square Chinese characters that translate to "New Product" (use Google Lens/Translate to do so), but not any simpler Japanese "strokes"-like characters, it is 100% Chinese cheap clone.

These are $3 to $4 everyday at Aliexpress or Temu. How do I know? I have bought several and work well for cutting off dowels, other light duty work. Not craftsman quality, but not bad.

I have a Japanese saw, it was crafted by master saw maker in a kimono with 1000 years experience. I want you to know that I know the difference.

This is a good price, but normal price is usually $15ish so that reference point of $26 is not right.

I bought this same one a year ago and I'll be honest, I think it's pretty awesome. I have only used it a few times in the course of a year, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I really liked it when I used it.
