So many of these chargers go on sale and I have no idea which is good. Is this overkill if all im going to use this for is to charge a tablet and phone that charges at a maximum of 45w each?

Not overkill, if anything the charger will run cooler IF driven at higher wattage (compared to maxed out output one), as long as it's not over its limit but most have protection for that as well. More power ones are just bigger in size thus bulkier (usually). Unless you need multiple ports go with some headroom like 65W for 45W demand or 45W for 25W demand and you shouldn't worry about overheating or charging issues (also not always the case though). As far as most reliable brands then Google should answer that. For me Belkin, Anker, otter box and few others have been solid. For less popular brands read reviews on that specific model and make the judgement based on that.

This one comes with a free charging cable,
On mobile under price, it says "free item with 39.98 purchase" hit that then click "benefit" add the cable and you'll see -$12.99 upon checkout

Yes, BUT: for any of these chargers with multiple ports, you need to scroll down the page and see what happens when you plug in more than one device. For this one in particular:
  • Single port: up to 140W
  • Two ports: 70W for each, split in half
  • Three ports: 65W for one port, 45W for the second, and only 30W for the third
  • Four ports: 65W + 45W + 9W + 9W
So, for your use case of two 45W devices, this is overkill. But as soon as you plug in a third 45W device, one of them (the one in the lowest priority port) will only get 30W. If that third device doesn't need more than 30W, that's perfectly fine. Plug in a fourth device, and the two lowest ports will only get 9W each.
All of that is to say: Overkill is good, unless you're confident that you'll NEVER plug in additional devices.

To make matters worse, I've never heard of these brands until they started getting promoted here on SD. Probably a big chunk of their sales are from SD. You know - the SD effect :-)

I have a Baseus 100w charger and it is already having problems after being barely two years old and just out of warranty. Fellow Amazon reviewers reported the same thing. I have 10 year old Anker chargers that still work. That has really soured me on the Baseus brand.

Bought mine for $38 3 months ago and it works great. Looks like there's a previous poster complaining about it failing after 2 years, so fingers crossed mine lasts longer than that

I have probably 8 chargers around the house from this brand, bought over several years. They all work great and have no issues. I understand they are a major brand in China.

Anyone know if this will have a short power interruption when I plugin another device? So far all my multi device chargers do this and I want to get one that doesn't. The interuption is annoying especially with some devices that will make sound when power resumes.

please report back if/when you find one - I am looking for the same as this power renegotiation drives me nuts (and my laptop for some reason slows down noticeable every time it switch to battery, even after the external power resumes).

BTW, this one is pretty good and I think it might be even smaller: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJ8SC...=UTF8&th=1 Unfortunately, the other one (200W without the screen) is not available now - that one is real beast and I'm thinking about replacing the OP's charger with GEEK FULLY one (I have both fwiw).
