What do they sound like?
They are pretty low output pickups, so very classic clean sounds, just with a bit more mid and low (thus the "fat), so harder to get the "ice pick" sound that can be problematic with strats. Much more enjoyable when playing by yourself especially. Still definitely sounds like a strat. I love everything about them, but I hate high output pickups on a strat (Texas specials). Sound is always subjective. There are lots of youtube compare videos that are a good place to at least narrow down the field. I'm pretty sure these are objectively the most expensive pickup that Fender has ever put in a MIM though.

Also worth noting that MIM necks are usually slimmer, so those who prefer a slim neck, this might be about as good as it gets from Fender. American performer is a little thicker and then American pros and up are decently chunky. Again all preference.

So far have received a few guitars, all brand new. Got an accostasonic amp that appeared new but was straight up broken...like one of the speakers was completely dislodge, chipboard floating around, crack in the case (the body of the amp was broken, there wasn't actually crack in the case, though that would be a serious +1 over Sweetwater). Awaiting a replacement.

Gretsch G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT 6 String Kailani Blue Electric Guitar
See if you can get the 10 percent code from Franklin Guitar Works - I bought one a couple of weeks ago for $323 and it's supposed to be a refurb, but mine came with new Gretsch tags and not a scratch on it:

The Quality of the Japanese Gretsch's is outstanding! The 6128T-53 Duo Jet is an Amazing Guitar (very similar to the one George Harrison used with the Beatles). Even the Hard shell case is a very good quality Gretsch Labeled TKL. This is a Great Price!
Do you think it could fit my Gibson ES-125?

The Olympic White Player II Strat Limited Edition is a hidden gem too. Two huge pros:
-roasted maple neck
-Custom Shop Fat 50 pickups

If you like those pickups, it's a sweet deal.
I must have missed this, only 1 (non-sale) guitar showing up here: https://www.focusproaudio.com/pag...r+II+Strat

I ordered the Fender Limited Edition Player II Telecaster (Charcoal Frost Metallic) and it arrived earlier today - after letting it adjust to room temperature I opened it this evening to find it covered in finger prints and it has a piece of masking tape on it with the #3 written on it...

I've bought from Focus Pro Audio before and haven't had any issues and the guitar seems otherwise in good shape - I've just never had a new Fender (Mexican or otherwise) arrive in this condition. (box was sealed - so I don't have any reason to assume FPA had anything to do with the condition)

To their credit, I had a tracking number within an hour of ordering and the guitar arrived almost immediately.
My Player II Strat turned out to be a dog too, unfortunately. Fret ends poking out so far that the varnish was bubbling up around them. A comically huge amount of relief in the neck, and the truss rod adjustment notch suspiciously damaged. It's too bad, because it was a great price. At least I got a killer Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat from them a few weeks ago.

That shipping was insane. I wasn't ready to have it in hand that fast! (Not mad!)

Received my Duo Jet after a weather-related delay. All is well - guitar is brand new in a sealed Gretsch box. It was manufactured in early 2024.

The new Gretsches are awesome. They play and sound amazing. First run Jet (rectangular fretboard inlays) had bad fret sprout and bad pickup mounting but is an otherwise good guitar, second-run Jet (quarter moon fretboard inlays) is near perfect. Be careful with the thread-on strap buttons, they can come loose on their own and the studs can unscrew pretty easily too. I check mine for tightness every time I pick it up.

edit: also thanks for a good deal on a hard case for two of my favorite guitars
