I have this... The oil cylinder will fail on it and you'll get hot oil over the floor.... The cylinders are about the same price as a new unit when you add shipping. Also, the effort is nonlinear and gets much easier as the cylinder warms up.

Kind of, it can train endurance; but that's really a more minor part of swimming. Swimming is almost all technique based, you really need a good coach to go fast. Especially with 25-yard pools.

I'm assuming we're talking about competitive swimming.

A rowing machine is great for a quick, full-body workout. However, I much prefer the water machines. The sound of the slush helps add motivation to pull harder Smilie

Not likely any better than any other exercise. This will help with general conditioning, but won't make you a better swimmer on it's own.

you can get a generic hydraulic cylinder on amazon for about 30 shipped. I've read multiple posts of people saying they've had this for years without issue. So even if you get a dud and it fails after a year or two, the $30 part is well worth it imo.

Last time I checked Amazon I couldn't find the adjustable cylinder there; only US source I could find was the Sunny Health website itself. Would you happen to have the AMZN link? Would be curious to see if it's a higher quality version of the cylinder that might last longer. I suspect the people who have had this for years without issue aren't using it, or using it very much - like most exercise equipment we buy. 😏
