thinking about trying these on an enclosed back porch that isn't weather tight. anyone else tried something similar in a situation like that?

I'd be worried about mold or mildew growing underneath the tiles. Plus if they are wood, wouldn't they need to be maintained annually with water repellant?

Basically yes, you would need to treat wood periodically (annually for best results) to prevent weathering and rot.
No, you most likely wouldn't get mold if the wood is treated.
But I think these are more of a temporary product. They are cheaply made so won't last long. I'd put these on a patio or balcony and be happy it they lasted more than a year.

I recommend you look into a composite decking system like NewTechWood. I used their 36" system in a previous house and it worked great. As with any decking - especially tile-based systems - how level your starting floor is will determine how good your final product will be.

This was the system I put in. I don't recommend if you get a lot of sun as they get HOT.
