These second Gen core ultra V chips are monsters btw. Really good price for what you're getting, very power efficient

This is entirely false. The Omnibook Ultra is the top tier and a much better build quality.

the Omnibook X replaced the Spectre as the new high end model HP laptop. There are several Omnibooks with this being top tier. Better build quality, audio, things like that. I have the 14" version of this. It was expensive but it is A+
No it didn't. Omnibook X is envy lineup's replacement. It's the omnibook ultra flip that's spectre's replacement.

You are absolutely right my mistake. Edited accordingly. (I do have the Ultra, it is late, I'm tired lol)

My wife has this one but with the IPS screen and it's fantastic.

How would this machine work for general Office/business use? I'm looking for a new Windows laptop that I'd primarily use for Microsoft Office, emails, video calls, web browsing, etc. Nothing major and no gaming, but also something that can last for a while and handle multiple apps running at the same time.

Would be more than fine

It's being discounted because new chips with better gaming performance are coming out

Multiple apps, sure... depending on what apps you mean, it could or not meet your performance needs... some apps are too heavy for this set up.

Apps like Excel with multiple workbooks open, Chrome with multiple tabs open, Teams, Word, Spotify, etc.

I run about the same app load at work, 16gb RAM was not sufficient for me. My machine was constantly crawling and would fail to open additional apps (Config Mgr, Acrobat) due to memory pressure. I upgraded my RAM to 48gb and consistently see 22-24gb usage in task manager. Look for something with 32gb or upgradeable SODIMMs, IMO

Thanks for pointing that out. I likely would have multiple PDFs open in Acrobat as well. I'll look for a machine with at leat 32GB RAM.

You can change the configuraion to get the the 258V with 32GB for another $160. Might be worth it for some. Also IPS with same res but 400nits and touch is available at the same price.

I think LOQ has discrete graphics.

This spec is misleading. The total RAM of this device should be 16GB, but for some reason HP says "Intel® Core Ultra 7 256V, Intel® Arc 140V GPU (8GB) + 16 GB(onboard)". The 256V is a 16GB part, and afaik it isn't possible to add memory to Lunar Lake in any form. So perhaps HP are saying the GPU can have up to 8GB allocated. Either way, they need to clear it up.
