how easy is it to properly clean? the few ninja products I've owned worked well, but always have some spot that was impossible to clean fully or a spot that traps water after washing.

Based on some research, it's much easier to clean than the previous version. The plates are non-stick so they clean up pretty easy and the lid detaches so that it can be washed in the sink instead of of trying to do it while attached to the machine.

I wrote the brand off completely because of this long ago. It's amazing they're still in business.
