Could this thing handle basic modeling for 3D printing? I'm having fun getting into the 3D hobby and not terribly familiar with these mac mini's. Thanks in advance.

This is a great price for a baseline Mac Mini. I checked the Micro Center in Fairfax, VA and they had 19 in stock well 18 after I left. Not all stores have them and their website is not accurate with their stock. My local store showed zero in stock but when I went in they had 19.

If only it was 512, that would be a killer deal, but this is a solid deal still

This or wait for the m5 mini?
The M5 will be $200-$300 more than this deal. If you buy this same model from Apple today it's $599 vs $399 at Micro Center. If you are wondering about specs that's one thing but if you are wondering about value I don't think the performance to cost ratio is going to make the M5 version a better value whenever it releases.

Fantastic deal if it ran Windows. MacOS is pretty worthless for anything serious.
I have been a Windows user since 1995, and I bought the M4 Mini last year as an experiment. Now, I'm considering getting another. Windows is bloated, even if it's more intuitive (for me). The processor is a beast. Even with 16gb RAM, it'll run fine for at least 5 years, maybe even 10.

Depends on what you need to use it for. For most folks' general tasks, office work, web browsing, photo editing and light video editing, the M4 is already more than powerful enough. The M5 version is going to be even better, but unless you're doing work that's going to tap out the capacity of the M4, which the vast majority people aren't, not sure if it's worth the extra 300 bucks.

I approve this message! After a month most people are gonna find out that they really don't understand why they needed Clawbot (Moltbot) and will start selling their M4 Minis. Then I get one for $300 from them!
I bought a NVidia 40 series GPU thinking I'm gonna use ChatRTX for my local documents. Turns out I only use it for games.

Looks like Best Buy only has the 256GB listed from 3rd party seller and Best Buy won't price match to third party. Good luck to those who will try, I just tried and no luck but person was polite.

Easily. My old ThinkPad with an 8th Gen Intel I5 does fine. It just takes a bit longer for slicing.

For 3D printing and doing CAD for STL, Mac mini will be more than enough.

Interesting claim. I use it and work in IT... Works pretty flawlessly for my job.
True, Macs work great for many IT roles. But in a lot of real-world operations (inventory, POS, shipping, banking, airport systems), Windows is still the standard because of legacy software and hardware compatibility.
