This Micro Center bundle pairs the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ASUS X870-P Prime Wi Fi, and 32GB of Crucial Pro DDR5 into a very strong value package, especially for a gaming build. The pricing works out far below buying the parts separately, and the CPU is treated as a lightly tuned 9800X3D class chip. The motherboard is full size with four M.2 slots, but it only has two SATA ports, so storage expansion may need adapters or a PCIe SATA card. The main hesitation is the recent ASUS 800 series CPU reliability concern, which makes some prefer an MSI board instead. Overall, it is a compelling bundle if the board fit and storage layout suit the build.

Asrock mobos? I have not seen asus be a problem and have had an asus board with a 9800X3D for about 3 months so far with no issues.Edit: I found the articles, this is a real thing for the B850 and X870E. I have an X870E so RIP
Is it worth changing the motherboard then? Which one to buy?

Asus just released a new bios driver yesterday, I just updated it. Allegedly should fix the issues, but who knows. I would probably go with the MSI board then.

Aren't ASUS boards frying the 9800xd3 CPU?

I am so happy I built my rig last summer. Building it now with current prices i would have spent at least 50% more. Times are not good to PC enthusiasts.

Considering in the past week there have been new reports of ASUS boards burning the 9800x3D it might be worth considering the MSI 870E board bundle for only $50 more. It might be a fixable issue or not even an issue with this particular combo but I'd at least consider it for peace of mind.
This is good advice.
If you've been paying attention, you'll know that the ASUS boards of this gen have not been good, while the MSI offerings have been solid. I'd go with the Tomahawk if possible.

I bought the previous bundle with the 9800X3D and upgraded to the MSI board for that reason.

Picked this up today. Initially went for their 7500x3d bundle as a budget build but i couldn't leave this at this price.

Why does Micro Center not ship items? I do not see the business model advantage by in-store only pickup deals. They are essentially eliminating a high percentage of potential customers who live no where near a store.

Because they can't make money off of this price without the chance of you buying other things while you are in the store.
