This Micro Center bundle pairs the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ASUS X870-P Prime Wi Fi, and 32GB of Crucial Pro DDR5 into a very strong value package, especially for a gaming build. The pricing works out far below buying the parts separately, and the CPU is treated as a lightly tuned 9800X3D class chip. The motherboard is full size with four M.2 slots, but it only has two SATA ports, so storage expansion may need adapters or a PCIe SATA card. The main hesitation is the recent ASUS 800 series CPU reliability concern, which makes some prefer an MSI board instead. Overall, it is a compelling bundle if the board fit and storage layout suit the build.

Since i got a NAS I don't use hard drives in *ANY* of my 3 PC workstations (all 5090/9950x3d setups) or the M4 Macbook air i bought.

I don't see the point anymore. I upgraded the workstaitons to have 10gigabit cards (had to use a riser with the one computer to just get a 10gig card in there with the giant 5090... get an FE if you ever get one.. it's nice to get so much SPACE back on the board)

10gig connection to the NAS is ~1GB/second and it absolutely does saturate the connection whether i use the hard drive array or the NVME array on my nas...

I really do suggest people just do the same even if they can't do 10gig and even if they can't justify buying a prebuilt nas... Not hard to find a workstation that's getting retired for basically nothing and building your own NAS...

Not having a single spinning disk in any of my computers is genuinely super nice.
I get it though right now, prices are absurd. I am glad i did most of my upgrading at the beginning of last summer.

NVME drives have went up a bit in price but you can still buy gen 4's a bit cheaper and it's not a difference that most people will even notice at all... I notice it because of the stuff I use my computers for, but it's really not necessary to go gen5 and pay the "AI bubble tax"
any more details you can share regarding the process? what is building an NAS? FE? sorry for the noob questions

Because they can't make money off of this price without the chance of you buying other things while you are in the store.
Yes, I am afraid that sounds about right. Just complaining because I obviously can't partake in this amazing deal Smilie.

This is almost like buying 32 GB of DDR5 and getting a free motherboard and processor with the RAM prices these days.

We all know Asrock is considered as burning boards, but how close is an Asus to being a burned boards?
