Not necessarily. Hiking backpacks sometimes look larger because they all extend from waist to the neck (or higher). 24L vs 35L are mostly different in width and depth. Also, they are curved to keep them away from the back to reduce sweating. Laptop backpacks end above waistline.

Thanks OP. I've been looking for a better way to carry around hydraulic fluid. Those bucket handles really start hurting your hands after a while.
