Fun fact: if you have an android phone, you can buy the USB endoscope camera off your desired length and a USB C to USB A adapter. There are free apps that let you use your phone screen with the camera. This also opens up options to use larger displays like tablets or maybe even Chromebooks (haven't tried the Chromebook option).
*Disclaimer* I only know this because the screen on my endoscope got cracked while I was working on my car. It was only then that I realized that the camera that was on it was plugged in via a USB A port on the unit. I had some old type C to type A adapters from one of my early Pixel phones (because I'm a hoarder) and tried this out and it worked. I actually prefer to have a dedicated display for my endoscope but these small screens are common and fragile.
Just a random and interesting fact. I might still be ordering this into to replace my old one. Thanks, OP

Double check the length on this unit, I think it's only 6.5' so may have limited applications

My problem with "free" apps is that, if you are not paying for it, you're not the customer -- you're the product being sold.

If you prefer to pay for an app in the hopes that you aren't being made into a product, I suppose that is fine too lol. Honestly, that's a fair point... but it is one that could be made with just about any smart product or online service today, free or paid. Shoot, if you have an Amazon account to buy this product, the point is a bit moot considering how many services they work with to exchange information about you. At least you can control Android app access as well as disable/uninstall the app if you aren't using it. If they have app requirements in place for data they don't need, I simply deny access during setup and uninstall the app in favor of one that doesn't try to abuse its privileges.

Again, I'm not championing any form factor over another here. I was simply sharing a fun fact I happened to figure out after my other endoscope broke. I personally prefer the screen attached to the unit. Others might prefer to have a larger, brighter screen to view things.

I agree with you that paying for an app doesn't mean that the app won't be used to spy on you or sell your information. Heck, people are paying $50K plus for vehicles that are used to sell all kinds of information about them. I just really don't trust sketchy apps, free or not. For something like this with a camera associated with it, I do like the idea of a dedicated device that has no internet connectivity. To each their own.

Seems like a decent unit. But remember that most Auto Parts stores have lending tools for free and typically will include an endoscope in case you need one ASAP.
I got one once to check the soffit of my roof for a rat snake that had made its home there. I was not interested in sticking my face up close to the hole where it had gotten in. Found him. Still gives me the heebie jeebies. Smilie

Yup, they're just a camera, you can plug it into a laptop/pc as well and open the webcam software to view it.

These things are awesome, but the 2 & 3 camera versions are much easier to use

Note that this does not have a side facing camera that can be useful in some scenarios.
Fwiw I tried multiple usb ones and those were crap. I bought a dedicated unit with dual cameras and it has been much better. I still find it difficult to maneuver to camera into position.

I'm 49 this year. Does this work for colonoscopy? In the spirit of slickdeals I'm hoping to save a few grand by attempting self examination.
