When you sign up for ANY loyalty program ANYWHERE, you give consent for them to harvest your data. The data they harvest from you gets sold to the highest bidder. They make a lot more off your data they harvest and sell than the trinkets they toss your way.

Because many people will come in for the free burger and add fries, drinks, kids meals, etc. giving away a burger doesn't cost very much, and they easily recoup their loss on the add-on sales. 25 years ago when I worked at McDonald's, I learned that any sized drink cost the company 11¢, and that was factoring in the free refills. The biggest expense was the cup, as the syrup and water cost next to nothing on that scale. I'm sure costs have gone up, but I imagine the $3 drink now costs them about 25¢.

Oh...do not challenge them. Majority of people on this site have 10 accounts and they could claim up to 30 today each. Not only that, they will then freeze them in their deep freezer and eat it for like a month. These are the individuals you are up against. Good luck!

Somewhere on this site is a mad genius who has done the math. They have programmed out an elaborate Excel spreadsheet that tells them exactly how many freebies and BOGOs they need to redeem to break even against how much money corporations are making by selling that person's data.

I am close. Right now I am trying to see how many, or actually have figured out, the amount of free Jersey Mike's subs I would need to redeem to be able to breakeven from all the money I have spent. The NHL Predictor game is helping and any promo code that I can find for a free regular sub. Right now, I would need 26 free subs. Breaking even to me is getting it at the price it would be on minimum wage in my state $7.25/hr.

What you described is taking it up to the next level. I could not do it so well as to wreck the profit margins of the corporation. That is some, as you stated, "..Mad genius.." stuff.

I try to do it ETHICALLY. I do not try to create multiple accounts, ask for more and harass employees, and I have an expected minimum wage to price of product threshold. That is how it should be done.

So it is a pleasure when I write this to you. If I can teach others to be more ethical and still get what they want and it helps even one individual on here; that will be great.
I could go into the whole Mufasa thing in The Lion King of the Circle of Life, but there is an ecosystem at play here. Abuse it and you will get nothing and prices will go up for everyone. Play it right and both sides win.
