"Self-levels within 4 degrees"

Seems pertinent?

Yeah, the cheap versions of these are always pretty loose with the self-leveling tolerance, it's not overly surprising. If that isn't good enough (which... there's plenty of situations where that's wildly short of good enough) you just run it manually -- at the end of the day, as long as the lines aren't moving (which... at least some of the reviews do indicate that it locks pretty well in the appropriate mode), and the cross makes a right-angle, you can kinda "make do" with something like this for light duty DIY work. At a certain point it's just replacing a chalk line -- you lock it, check it against a plumb or a spirit level, and move on. Attaching it to a decent, tripod or similar would likely massively improve its usefulness, too.

TL;DR auto-leveling feature isn't overly trustworthy, but that doesn't inherently mean this thing is bin-worthy, it's just a "you get what you pay for" situation. I'd love to see a more-useful self-leveling function at this kind of pricepoint, though, because that function is definitely game-changing, but it's also not cheap to implement.
