Inferior. Nothing Sunny Health and Fitness makes will compare to a concept 2 Rower.
Source: have owned many concept 2 rowers, and started off on a sunny. It's used Honda Civic vs Ferrari rowing experience.
I used to have a concept 2 but later moved and bought a Sunny Water rower for $330 pre-covid from Walmart and used it without issue the last 6+ years. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sunny-.../594824674
I see its only $245 right now. Worth buying, its reasonably silent and pretty smooth to operate. I actually prefer these water ones to the air ones. Havent tried a magnetic one.

We're talking about two different things. If you only have/want to spend $300ish dollars then sure go with a Sunny. But if you're looking to spend $800 on a rower, just save up an extra $200 and go with the gold standard rower

Sorry, that's fair. Ya I wouldn't spend this much when a Concept2 is ~9xx or the proform is $600 at Sam's club.

c2's are the gold standard. I had a water rower for a minute and while the sound was pleasing, it doesn't have the community that c2 has. they are virtually indestructible very serviceable. I'd look for a used one with a PM5 on Facebook marketplace. they can be had for $400 to $500 if you're patient. they also hold their value reasonably well if you do decide to change your mind. no one is going to give you nearly what you'd paid for this sunny in the aftermarket.
regardless, rowing is one of the best exercises you can do and ultimately the best machine is the one you actually use regularly.
