The Switch 2 is being framed as the better-performing Nintendo option, with smoother gameplay, better Joy-Cons, and strong docked play on big OLED TVs. The deal also stands out because it can be reserved online at select Micro Center stores, and Best Buy price matching reportedly worked in some cases. The main drawbacks are the in-store pickup restriction, the need to live near a Micro Center, and the lack of a must-have exclusive for some buyers. It feels most compelling for anyone ready to play now and focused on Nintendo exclusives.
Common Questions (5)
No, the listing is in-store pickup only. That makes it impractical if your nearest Micro Center is far away, even though the deal can be reserved online.
It is a stronger choice if you want better performance, smoother gameplay, and free upgrades for many Switch 1 games; some also note the Joy-Cons feel better. The main caveat is that the value depends on whether you want Nintendo exclusives enough to justify the console and the often expensive games.
The deal is tied to in-store pickup, and one shopper was denied because staff treated it as a membership offer even though it is free. Another comment says the price is only supposed to apply if you live within 25 miles of a Micro Center and chat with a rep.
A lower price is not expected soon; one prediction puts a future Switch 2 OLED at $549 or more because of prior Nintendo pricing, tariffs, and electronics price hikes. That makes $400 look like a relatively strong current price if you want the console now.
Best Buy price matching can work for this deal, but it is not guaranteed. The match was reportedly honored for this Micro Center offer and a prior Mac mini deal, so it may depend on the rep and store policy.

I would go for S2 over S1.
Console pricing is also somewhat irrelevant because you are buying the platform for the games you want to play, not the games for the platform you want to own. You need "something" to play the games you like and that something can only be one platform. But purely deciding on which console, i would say S2 is cheap by comparison, they made alot of improvements over S1 for not much of a difference in price.
What will hurt your pocket is the pricing of their games which is pretty steep if you're going for certain new releases. One game could be as high as $80 (kirby, zelda, mario kart etc) 5 of those games which is not much and your library is as valuable as the console itself if not more valuable. so the question to ask yourself is - do you want to play those exclusive titles and are you okay with paying for those games? if so then theres your answer. If not then apply the same logic to other platforms.
