The Switch 2 is being framed as the better-performing Nintendo option, with smoother gameplay, better Joy-Cons, and strong docked play on big OLED TVs. The deal also stands out because it can be reserved online at select Micro Center stores, and Best Buy price matching reportedly worked in some cases. The main drawbacks are the in-store pickup restriction, the need to live near a Micro Center, and the lack of a must-have exclusive for some buyers. It feels most compelling for anyone ready to play now and focused on Nintendo exclusives.

Not buying anymore Nintendo games or consoles until they get rid of their Nintendo America CEO. It is 2026 folks and we are dealing with 2015 nonsense.
They just got a new CEO January 1st, 2026. Devin Pritchard took over for Doug Bowser who retired. Doug took over for Reggie in 2019 when he left for Gamestop.

Where to read about that? I'm curious to learn. No Nintendo console has ever not been hacked so it will happen (hopefully)

I thought the same thing but with how the US is screwing up the economy with tariffs, how much will it sell?

I stupidly want to buy it because I think we'll never see a price like this again...
Ehh tariffs will likely get struck down in the next year once it gets rolling in the courts. He overstepped the rules and lied about the reasoning for them so while some Chinese tariffs will stay, many others will disappear including Japanese tariffs. It's crazy it takes this long to correct things but welcome to bureaucracy.

Yeah now that Nintendo had played that hand so many times I really don't feel like having the shitty display just to play a couple mediocre games ( DK looks fun but I'm not dying to play it )
I've had an OLED Switch 2 since launch day. Mine is docked and connected to a 65" CX OLED. I never play handheld mode.

I would go for S2 over S1.
Console pricing is also somewhat irrelevant because you are buying the platform for the games you want to play, not the games for the platform you want to own. You need "something" to play the games you like and that something can only be one platform. But purely deciding on which console, i would say S2 is cheap by comparison, they made alot of improvements over S1 for not much of a difference in price.
What will hurt your pocket is the pricing of their games which is pretty steep if you're going for certain new releases. One game could be as high as $80 (kirby, zelda, mario kart etc) 5 of those games which is not much and your library is as valuable as the console itself if not more valuable. so the question to ask yourself is - do you want to play those exclusive titles and are you okay with paying for those games? if so then theres your answer. If not then apply the same logic to other platforms.
If you only buy 5x $80 games then you will have spent $800 to play 5 games. Or $160 per game. Even if you buy 20 games you have to add $20 to the cost of each game to "pay for" the console. I'd never really thought about it this way, but makes sense to me.

Knock $50 more off and I'll think about it. Knock $100 more off and I'm definitely in.

Yeah my thought process was hey how badly do you want to play said game or games ? If say you plan on dropping hundreds of hours in just one game like Mario kart or something then even if you drop $480 for the game and console it may be worth it at a few bux/hr or whatever the math ends up being . But if you buy 10 games and spend 50 hrs total then it may not be worth it . It's all driven by which games you care for

Keep in mind the console and games won't be worth $0 afterward though. You'll probably still be able to get like $200 for the console and a fraction for the games.

I don't own any consoles at the moment. Out of curiosity, how many games do you guys think it takes to justify buying the Switch 2? I obviously wouldn't spend $400+ just to play one game. Since I don't even have Switch 1, technically even Switch 1 games would be considered "new" to me.
I have both the S1 and S2. The S2 is just so much better. I am playing No Man Sky on it and it is actually running great! Everything runs just much smoother on the S2. Many games got upgrades for free. So if you have a S1 game, you can just literally download an update and the same game disk will run on the S2. I thought this was a very nice touch.

But why when you can just wait for the Switch 4 around the corner?
