I had four phones on total Wireless they all joined at different times so I paid four different times of the month. Total Wireless consolidated the four payments into one, in a new single once a month payment plan. It's fine it's what other companies have done, if they do it right. To do it right they would either needed to prorate my bill so I'm not paying for the same days that I had already paid for, or just eat the cost. They chose to make me pay for the same days that I'd already paid for. For example I already paid on the first for the entire month then on the 15th they charged me for an entire month again. When I called customer service the only thing they could do was apologize, I even got apologized to by a manager. During that call I handed my wife the phone and I called my credit card company explain the situation and got a credit back to my card. After that call with the credit card company my wife was still being apologized to by total Wireless. I promised three things to the guy apologizing to me. Number one I will get my money back, number two I will leave their company, and number three I will share my story with as many people that'll listen. I fulfilled my promise.
Also I recommend staying away from this company unless you're technical because basically there's no customer service or support, so you're on your own.
My point is if you get this service you are on your own.

If you get c band signal around you (5g uw), it will easily break gigabit. Not much of a perk until you're in a really dense place during an event, like at a convention or a concert, where it shines.
However, they aren't the absolute coverage kings anymore...that would be ATT (just barely...hard to tell), since they built out towers seven years ago as part of their agreement with the govt to get first responders reception in the most remote areas (firstnet band 14, 700 mhz)
Also, in terms of a 'hell froze over' comparison, TMO actually has better penetration in some buildings/location (band 71, which is 600mhz AND has both 4g and 5g SA) than Verizon (band 13, 700 mhz, entirely 4g).
So while VZ has a larger footprint, it will be both slower, and lower capacity, at the same time. But if you can get their fast signal...it's freaking fast. The fastest of them all (c band and mmwave)
TMO has the lowest band of the low bands...and capacity, so if you're in some concrete prison and can catch their signal, it should be decently quick.
ATT is the only option in some seriously remote places (tribal lands, super rural).

For $30 you get unlimited 5g+ wireless service and Disney+ premium. Which is like getting the wireless part for just $11/month.
From my experience the only major trade off is the most expensive plan that includes Disney+ beyond 6 months, also has a pretty bad hotspot. It's unlimited but is capped at 1 device and 5mbps. This is ultimately what made me decide to switch away from total. With such a limited hotspot, it just wasn't useful enough when I wanted to use it for stuff like kids tablets while on the road or traveling.
I went with visible which had an annual plan promo for $205 and has unlimited hotspot at up to 15 mbps. It's way more useful.
If you value disney+, and don't mind slower hotspot and limited customer support, then total 5g+ for $30/month is a great value and option.
I believe Total 5G and 5G+ are on QCI 8 which is highest Verizon priority available to consumers. I don't experience any issues.

TotalWireless user for me and my wife for 1.5 years now. We joined when they had this EXACT same promo back in Nov 2024.
Overall we are happy with our service, now, after a VERY rough 2nd month which involved an official FCC complaint to honor the promotional pricing i signed up for. The 2nd month was wrongfully renewed at full price ($65). But after the FCC complaint, i was assigned a TotalWireless resolution manager, which ENSURED I was satisfied with the resolution after 48 hours. By month 3 and have had no problems again, UNTIL TODAY, when my Disney plus was randomly cancelled mid-month.....But again, it was resolved by CS chat in 15 mins or less.
So if you are willing to "potentially" deal with CS, then it's a fine provider indeed
Total isn't for the faint of heart, and if you're someone who needs CS to hold your hand it's probably not going to be a good fit for you.
With that being said though, their $30 byod 5G+ that includes Disney + no ads has been a great plan for me.

I can't make any recommendations, but I recommend you consider something else besides Verizon and TracFone (and, I imagine but don't know Total Wireless). My recommendation is try something else.
