this "isolate" 25g protein in 36g scoop
nutricost isolate is 30g in 35g scoop https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-...B01HOPJAAE
ascent blend is 25g in 33g scoop https://www.costco.com/p/-/ascent.../100985271

70% protein by weight is kinda low for isolate (25g/36g serving). Do all those fillers mean it tastes good?

Also higher calorie - 140cal with 100 of those from protein, again high for isolate. But, sometimes those fillers make it taste better.

I also generally prefer sucralose to stevia - tastes better, although I realize that is an unpopular opinion around here.

This isn't an isolate for all intents and purposes, that saturated fat content defeats the purpose of getting an isolate, and it's mildly worrying that they don't list the cholesterol content even though that's a required part of the nutrition label.

I'm going to get one bag just to see if it has it on the actual basg when I get it in, as I'm curious.

So I just started addressing my prediabetes and hyperlipidemia. One of the things I need to do is increase my protein intake (at 185 lbs, I need about 90-100g, but I often fall short). Also, I don't want to build insane muscle; I just want to maintain muscle mass as I get older. I don't care about the flavor as long as it is not chalky. Nutritional integrity is very important.

What brand/product do the knowledgeable people in this thread recommend to me?

I am old enough to remember when 10 pounds of premium whey protein was under $40, that was less than a decade ago

Optimum protein gold is often mentioned as a baseline and it's cholesterol is disqualifyingly high too.

Key takeaway, supplement companies only care about $ and not your health.
And whey used to be just a waste product of the dairy industry

I wish they offered unflavored so we didn't have to deal with the artificial sugars.

This is a great deal for what you are getting, but I just have to say I just received the vanilla today and it tastes absolutely dreadful!!! My goto has always been ISO100 fruity pebbles which is the best isolate I've ever had. But the price skyrocketed to an unbelievable price, and now I'm not willing to pay it. Anyone know if the chocolate version in this deal tastes any better???

IMO the chocolate tastes great. Someone said it had a slight hot chocolate cocoa flavor and that seems right to me. I think ON's chocolate tastes decent and this is even better than that. YMMV but I like it.

Not entirely accurate. The most reason for an isolate is either the low lactose present or the low kcals. People spend extra for one or both of those things.
Yep! I am one of those people that get BAD tummy aches if there's any whey concentrate in it, so I pay for the isolate. The price stings my wallet, but I'll keep buying as long as I can afford it. It is sure getting rediculously expensive though!

Cholesterol is likely to be low, but you are correct that they should print it.MCT Oil, Sunflower Lechitin, and/or Sodium Caseinate can all explain the extra saturated fat. However, all three of these are low in cholesterol. That said, I've determined it isn't a great deal. At 3.4 cents per gram of protein, it's a good, but not great deal. There are have been and will be better values for isolates or high-isolate blends. The recent Quest deal was one of them at about 2.8 cents per gram of protein. You can usually get pure isolate from Canadian Bulk Protein for 3.4 cents per gram, everyday.
If I live in the US and order from that Canadian website, will I have to pay import fees, taxes, surcharges, or anything crazy like that???

I think you don't... Cholesterol does matter for people who's liver doesn't do a good job of removing excess cholesterol, mine for instance, where I went from over 500 combined, mostly ldl, to 173 combined in 1 year by just cutting out most sources of higher dietary cholesterol and eating more veggies. The veggies I did first and they made little impact on their own. Thanks though,I think I'll keep listening to my dietitian and Dr, considering it's their advice that actually helped lol.
For most people, dietary cholesterol has minimal effect on serum cholesterol. Serum cholesterol is more affected by dietary saturated fat and trans fat.

Question, what does lower of the things I list cause ..lower kcals, the first thing I listed lol, and first thing you listed. the much lower cholesterol itself is also the primary reason dietitians suggest using it over whey concentrate.
Mb I obviously did not pay attention when I was reading your comment. You're exactly right. I guess I was just trying to point out that you didn't list a key reason which is lactose intolerance. Some people don't care about the kcals just the digestion of lactose
