We have a similar one and the material is stiff enough that it remains upright when unfolded. However we don't use it that much due to the fact that it is quite tall. Guess it would be ok if you were 6 1/2 feet tall. But for majority, it is too high, especially with the straps -- worst if you have stairs to negotiate. Wish this were available is a shorter version.

I got the 65L version of these - they're definitely not what I expected, pretty cheap in material - but honestly good enough. You get what you pay for. I got these specifically because the dimensions specifically fit what I need - tall and skinny. heyooo. Having said that - seem sturdy enough, they should hold upright well on it's own. It's like a stiff plastic bag material.
