Sure it's a decent deal, but that ram is insane...8gb? It will barely be able to run windows 11, 16gb is the new minimum, and with ram prices these days, you're better off paying a little more for something with 16gb

8GB is a reasonable amount of RAM for a computer at this price point with these specs. 8Gb is fine for the basic tasks this is spec'd for.

8 gb would barely run windows 11,barely, the processor doesn't matter if the ram bottlenecks you so badly,I'm just saying, with how hard it is to get ram for a reasonable price, I wouldn't recommend this unless you're just using it to surf the web, you'd struggle to run anything that you'd need a decent processor for. It would make a decent netbook, but not much other use for it with windows 11 installed.

Now there are other options one could do with it like Linux, and it's a good deal regardless, just saying you won't be able to do much with this, and could do a LOT more for just a little more money.

What exactly do you think one would "struggle to run" at 8gb? The minimum RAM to run Windows 11 is 4GB. 8GB isn't IDEAL but, again, is fine for a budget PC. It's not going to be a significant bottleneck with these specs.

At $196 I can't complain about 8GB but 16GB would make a big difference as the RAM on this build will be the bottleneck to best multitasking performance. Only one of 2 RAM slots is used from the factory allowing you to throw in another 8GB easily, or more if desired up to 64GB max. For those interested, CPU Mark score on the R5 5500U is 12,710.

Minimum ram listing from Microsoft is a lie,8GB is the recognized minimum for 11 by pretty much everyone, cause Microsoft lies about their performance.
I'm sorry, but taking Microsoft's word for 11's performance when most third party testing has shown they lied, is a bit much.

Not gonna keep arguing with you though, feel free to buy as many useless machines as you want lol

Apparently you think people are buying sub-$200 laptops to do 3D modeling and run massive, highly complex spreadsheets. These are perfectly reasonably specs for a laptop at this price point, and it'll work just fine for most people who just browse, watch some videos, and type the occasional document. The web browser is a far bigger RAM hog than any OS, anyway. Windows 11 is hot garbage but this laptop will run it just fine with 8GB RAM, and it'll be easy to install Linux on it if one chooses to do so.

I might add that lots of us are looking to upgrade an older laptop without breaking the bank. Obviously this isn't the latest and greatest, but is a nice option to upgrade on the cheap. Sort of in the sweet spot between too expensive and too old. Another 8GB and maybe a 1TB SSD and you've got a pretty respectable productivity machine. For most home users it should do just fine as is, and will run circles around something like an N150.
