This is a good deal, but I am going to hold off for a few more weeks as I believe the Pixel 10a is supposed to be released by this March. I am assuming the 9a will drop once that happens. I am currently on a 6a, which works well, except for the battery life. I already took the $100 refund due to the battery issues, so I am hoping to get the 9a for $200 after accounting for the $100 refund.
I'm in the same boat, took the $100 refund as well. Fingers crossed more deals are coming!

There has not been a good Google phone since the Nexus 5. My Pixel 7 Pro screen delaminated after a few months and a firmware update from Google broke the focus on the main camera and now it's always blurry unless in macro mode, which turns off if you leave the camera app.
agreed. the phones these days are so incredibly boring. it's no wonder they use gimmicks like folding screens to try and sell their junk.

Very broad generalization. I've had the 3a, 3, 6a, 7, 7a, 8, 9, and 10 Pro with zero problems.

I loaded Lineage 23.0 (android 16) on this. Very smooth. Happy with this phone, got it on the SD a couple of months ago for same price.

Disagree. New battery in my 6a and it lasts all day, and the phone just works.

Maybe, but in my experience:
Pixel 3/3 XL: Poor battery life, overheating, early screen burn-in.
Pixel 4/4 XL: Terrible battery, unreliable face unlock (no fingerprint), gimmicky features.
Pixel 5/5a: Middling performance, battery degradation; 5a had widespread motherboard failures.
Pixel 6/6 Pro: Overheating (Tensor chip), slow/unreliable fingerprint scanner, poor modem/connectivity, screen issues.
Pixel 7/7 Pro: Screen delamination (lifting/bubbling), camera autofocus bugs (e.g., firmware breaking focus outside macro), overheating, connectivity glitches.
Pixel 8/8 Pro: Fingerprint inconsistencies, battery drain, overheating, mixed durability.
Pixel 9 series: Extended boot times, update-induced sluggishness/boot issues, occasional launcher failures.
Pixel 10 series: January 2026 update caused Wi-Fi/Bluetooth failures (some also hit camera/flashlight), sluggish performance post-updates, prolonged boots/black screens, app crashes, flickering AOD (mostly fixed later), muffled speakers.

I had the P6a and Google nerfed the battery after 400 charge cycles. My battery health was 97% at 399 charge cycle and Google nerfed it down to 60% capacity and reduced voltage. The phone was unusable and I refuse to buy another 'a' line phone after my 4a and 6a had battery issues. I went with the P9 in December, its a much better phone.
Google is going to start reducing the battery capacity at 200 charge cycles on the 9a. F that noise.

I had the 6a. Was probably one of the worst phones I've ever owned, but I was coming from samsung galaxies so there's a big of a price/quality gap inherently.

Having said that, pretty much most google made products I've owned have either broken considerably quicker than usual or just have had tons of software (lol) issues.

Can you explain the refund? How did you get the refund?

Wow, you've had a lot of bad experience. If I was in your shoes I would have quit buying Pixels after 4. Why keep torturing yourself?

The refund was part of Google rolling back the performance of the 6a battery via android update to reduce the risk of the battery overheating and catching fire. There was an email that google sent to all owners of the 6a around last summer that gave owners the option of getting the battery fixed at no charge or accepting a one time $100 payment. I chose the $100 payment knowing that the 6a battery would have reduced capacity and slower charge times. I apologize if some of the details may be incorrect, as I am trying to recall from memory the events, but this is generally what individuals are referring to when they mention the $100 payment.

Why get one after the 3? Having said that I like the 9XL. Everything seems to work well and it runs smoothly. I like the amount of ram google offers.

I was thinking 1 "shame on Google", and 2 "shame on me" for letting Google sell me a lemon again, but yeah I would stop after 1 crappy phone (unless it was free, or close to it) This is Slickdeals afterall! ....and I plan to get a 9a if/when the price drops again.
