Maybe it's been as low as $330 for those garage sale "refurbished/used/heavily beat up" ebay listings, but if one reads the description, these are brand new (w/ damaged box) --- complete with full manufacturer's warranty and Applecare eligible.

Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!

Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)

If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

Looks like these are $346 on Walmart.com. Same seller.

Mine arrived and it's not looking 'Excellent'. It's showing a purchase date of January 10, 2025 so coverage is expired and under battery health it says 'Service Recommended'. It seems like it was turned on at some point - there's a sticker on the box that says it was inspected - and then the battery drained and sat discharged for 13 months or so.

restored Gray vs OB Gold
Grey is "open box" as well if you look at the listing and follow the directions at the top.

Let me explain why this is a good deal. I bought two of these for my sons last year. The screen on one broke. It costs $400 to fix just the screen. Im telling you its a good deal because it's cheaper to buy a new one than get the screen fixed. You could theoretically buy all the inventory they have and just remove the screens and sell them for more.

I have a Windows laptop that is older than this with multiple SSDs installed and 32gb of RAM. I would never subject myself to this thing.

I also have an Mac m1 Mini 8gb. I don't use MacOS on it. I use Linux on it. It works great as a server with a bunch of containers. I have it shoved in a closet somewhere.
My Windows box has 128GB of RAM and a 16TB raid 5 in it. I wouldn't subject myself to Windows but I have to.

Interesting, I ordered about an hour later than you, still no shipment confirmation or any other feedback outside of the "order received" initial email.

Got one last night and it has started to ship. Will post back on the quality. I am taking a gamble here since I plan to develop software on it but I think there is a good chance it is fine and at $350 it is worth the risk. I almost bought a 1.5k M4 MBP the other day but going the opposite route here haha.

I don't know what platform you're planning to develop for, but xcode wants 16 and 512 gb.

Paid under $400 brand new when the m1 came out using the student deal at the time. Inflation sucks.
