Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

How did you get a reciept with a serial number? Walmart's email receipt is just generic.

it is 4 degrees F outside here near NYC so I am going to wait a few hours so the computer and the battery can warm up to a reasonable temperature before I boot it up but here are some pictures of it.
The outside box (where I redacted the info) says: Transfer to FORTX, Apple MGN63LL/A [Grade A ] [Fully Functional] and S/N
Keyboard and trackpad looks clean (no oil, fingernail scratches) and seems prestine, screen looks fine (haven't really had any screen time)
addendum: just looked up serial #, and went to check warranty -- and Apple page says it's missing a date, and it is is allowing me to update it (to today's date), and I have a call with Apple in an hour or so to show them the order # so maybe I can get 1 year of warranty. Bear in mind I haven't boot it up yet!
Booted it up but haven't do the setup yet -- but the Apple logo allows me to look at the MacOS version. Says Tahoe 26.2.
I ordered it at the Walmart 348 (+ Tax) . My out the door cost is $368.92
Looks promising.
Still have to actually talk to the advisor about updating the purchase date, but when I set up the Mac, it said "Limited Warranty Expires Oct 21, 2026". and the Battery Cycle is 2. Battery capacity 100%
I have to think about see if I can go back to Big Sur (or maybe to Sonoma 14.8.3) that's where my M1 Max is at.
I also got a gold one that is already on Tahoe. Looks like it was manufactured in 2025 vs 2020 for the silver one. Which one should I keep. Both have 3 battery cycles

First just google "Apple check serial number warranty" or something like that and you'll get to a page where Apple asks you to enter the serial number (on bottom of your laptop). When I entered mine, it says it didn't have a purchase date, and asked me to enter it, so I entered it and hit "Update" (from your walmart receipt). Then it informs me that I have to talk to an advisor , and I tried to schedule a call back like 6 times (on a sunday) and never got a call back. It may also ask you to send some info backing up your purchase date..
I included screenshot of my walmart purchase, walmart's email says "congrats, your macbook is on the way (with date), and my screenshot showing FedEx droping Mac outside my house.
If you get that screen where apple says it doesn't have a date, make sure you. take a screen shot of it asking you for that info, including the serial number showing.
I finally waited a day and then called Apple on a business day and ask to speak to someone (referring to the case number that apple will generate when you need to talk to the advisor).
If you already included the screenshot above, you may already be good to go. the advisor sent me a "screensharing" thing, but my existing MBP M1 Max was on lockdown mode, so it rejected it, and I asked the advisor to send me an eMail and I replied w/ the screenshots.
He then told me he had to transfer me to someone else, who updated the warranty date
from Mid October, 2026 (was shown when I setup the MBA and logged into my Apple Account). After talking to the second person, she informed me the warranty was updated to "Febuary 7, 2027" -- basically 1 year warranty, and then that info was soon updated when I look on the computer as well, and it also said I had 60 days to add Apple care on top of the 1 year warranty.
Hope it helps.
