Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

now the gold one also says m1, 2020 so was it actaully built in 2020 as well or is it just the 2020 version?
On the box, it states 2025 apple logo which is why I think it was really built in 2025

I included screenshot of my walmart purchase, walmart's email says "congrats, your macbook is on the way (with date), and my screenshot showing FedEx droping Mac outside my house.
If you get that screen where apple says it doesn't have a date, make sure you. take a screen shot of it asking you for that info, including the serial number showing.
I finally waited a day and then called Apple on a business day and ask to speak to someone (referring to the case number that apple will generate when you need to talk to the advisor).
If you already included the screenshot above, you may already be good to go. the advisor sent me a "screensharing" thing, but my existing MBP M1 Max was on lockdown mode, so it rejected it, and I asked the advisor to send me an eMail and I replied w/ the screenshots.
He then told me he had to transfer me to someone else, who updated the warranty date
from Mid October, 2026 (was shown when I setup the MBA and logged into my Apple Account). After talking to the second person, she informed me the warranty was updated to "Febuary 7, 2027" -- basically 1 year warranty, and then that info was soon updated when I look on the computer as well, and it also said I had 60 days to add Apple care on top of the 1 year warranty.
Hope it helps.
Any suggestions here? I guess I could keep it and hope nothing goes wrong, or just return it
I did this yesterday for an open box Macbook Air M1 from Walmart/VIPOutlet, and I have a new one-year warranty that was added within a few minutes of me adding my Apple ID.

2) log into iCloud in the Settings page with your standard Apple account
3) Within a few minutes, check the MacBook's AppleCare and Warranty screen within general settings, and it should be updated
Usually that's it. This has worked for me in the past for Apple computers, Apple Watches, and iPads that were already a few series/model years behind but just never registered with an Apple account.
Again, this only works if the Apple item has never had a warranty assigned to it. No need to enter in a purchase date or calls with Apple.
