However, if you're looking for an emergency flashlight to have on hand in case of power outages, one that you'll use maybe use once or twice a year, if that, a standard battery flashlight is a better option because alkaline batteries have a great shelf life, whereas rechargeables self discharge overtime, even if not in use. So, if you find yourself grabbing this in an emergency after a long period of storage, you could be in for a disappointment.
