Normal price is $10,500 and original MSRP is like $17K.

Was looking at this in the context of home theater use, where you would be using it with movie / tv content that would normally be letterboxed on a 16:9 screen. It has a VA panel (500 nit) with local dimming, so it should do pretty well in moderate light - not full darkness. So say you had a small theater or family room with poor light control, this would be pretty neat. Only 60Hz so not the best for gaming.

It looks to essentially be a widescreen 85" inch TV.

https://www.displaywars.com/105-i...-inch-16x9.

As a major samsung fan, I can say I didn't even know this existed.

It may be a niche market, but as an example, there are many movies I watch on my widescreen Oled Samsung monitors because the aspect ratio matches the movie's aspect ratio.

This could be an interesting piece for a home theater, but know that 16x9 content will be cropped on the sides. Kind of the opposite of what happens when watching widescreen movies on a 16×9 TV.

Specs mention 500 NITS which would probably only perform well in dark rooms.

Edit: apologies OP looks like i'm echoing much of what you already said.

OP, where did you find information on the local dimming?

Thanks for pointing out that it's similar to a 85" in height, that's very helpful. Buddy of mine has a cheap TU7000 85" with VA panel that only does about 250 nits, it's totally fine in moderate to dim light. I'll bet it's a pretty comparable panel, just with twice the light and local dimming, and of course the extra 25% width.

The irony of the 21:9 is that I dislike that ratio for phones and computer monitors preferring 16:9, but a giant TV would be OK.

It's in the spec sheet, but they don't say anything about how many zones. Normal direct LED backlight.
