Mid-Drive is a plus for me but the 250W electric motor would not be good enough to get up hills around me.

i have this from the original walmart deal. if you want to read more about it check out the comment over there. the gist is that mid-drive 250s is not the same as rear hub 250w and quite quick when needed.

however the way they ship ends up having something damaged or bent. it's not a deal break and this is even cheaper.

Hills are a matter of torque more than wattage. And that comes down to tuning and gearing.
Look, here's a well known ebike motor company. They have multiple 250W mid drive motors.
https://www.bafang-e.com/en/produ.../m-series/

The torque on the 250w motors ranges from 80Nm to 110Nm, which is a pretty big range.

Fwiw, a 250cc motorcycle usually has under 30Nm of torque and >15,000W (20+ hp). So on paper, ebikes should hill climb like a mountain goat

But gearing makes a huge difference. An ebike geared to try and hit 30+mph won't have the hill climbing torque of the same motor set up for 20mph. Its the difference between a 300hp pickup and a 300hp sports car.

After all that, mid drive motors are generally pretty safe bets because you have variable gearing and can shift on demand. That does a lot to compensate even for a low quality motor.

Everything looks good on paper. Only possible downside is if you receive a damaged e-bike. So repackaging it and sending it back can be challenging. This exact ebike was on a deal from Walmart (grey color,) and almost 95% of people reported they received a damaged bike (bent wheel, out of true wheel, damaged frame etc.) including myself. And I had to repackage this heavy ebike which is not fun. For walmart order, fedex came to pick that up, not sure how ebay return will look like. Vipoutlet sells walmart's returned or overstock items, so this can be from the same batch but different color.

Found a review on YouTube where the reviewer mentioned it was $1300 on Walmart but he bought it on sale for $699 in 2024. Commenters later mentioned it was on closeout for $349. Based on the seller name being "vipoutlet", I'd suspect it could be returned stock, but best case could be overstock.

How was the return through Walmart? Did you have to pay for return shipping?

Other than painful repackaging, the process was smooth. No return fees. Fedex a$$hole picked it up (sorry about the language) but this delivery guy tossed that bike at my door during initial delivery. So I put that package in a place in such a way that he had to do more work to grab that package and take it back to his van. Although refund came a bit late, like two weeks later which is unusual for walmart returns for me.

Im mostly worried about servicing or fixing the motor. Its not a bafang or bosch or Shimano. Something breaks, and entire thing is ewaste
