This Dell Tower Plus looks like a strong out of the box workstation and light gaming box, with the Core Ultra 7 265, 32GB of RAM, and RTX 5060 Ti making it appealing for photo editing, everyday pro work, and games like Overwatch or Valorant. The price also lands below rough parts estimates, and the case has room for extra SATA drives and an extra M.2 slot. The main drawbacks are Dell's proprietary motherboard, power supply, and case design, which make upgrades and repairs harder, plus the 8GB GPU and 460W PSU limit future headroom. A solid fit if the current configuration is enough.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is fine for the stock configuration, but it limits headroom for bigger GPU upgrades. Dell does offer a 1000W PSU option on this tower, and the 460W unit is the main reason people hesitate about long-term upgrade plans.

  • This configuration is the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti, not the 16GB model. The 16GB version exists separately, which is why several shoppers flagged the 8GB card as the main drawback.

  • Yes. The Ultra 7 265, 32GB RAM, and RTX 5060 Ti are strong enough for heavy Lightroom/Photoshop/DxO work and can game well enough, especially with DLSS. It is a better fit for pro workloads than an older laptop, but the 8GB GPU is the main limitation for more demanding gaming or future-proofing.

  • Some parts can be upgraded, including the GPU, RAM, SSD, CPU, Wi‑Fi card, and SATA storage. The motherboard and power supply are effectively proprietary, so major case/PSU swaps and some upgrades can be painful or expensive.

  • Yes. The system is reported to have three SATA slots, two hard drive bays, and room for additional SATA drives, plus an extra M.2 slot. One caveat is that this model may only support SATA drives up to 2TB.

The Cambridge, MA store already sold out of their 5 or so units. The $799 one and $1199 one are still available.

Seems like a great deal to replace my 13 year old Dell 8700 i7 XPS, which has served me extremely well. Have used it just about every day since 2013. It's not Windows 11 compatible so it's time. Thanks OP! In for one at the North Dallas store.
I literally have the same computer I bought from Costco on a black Friday deal in 2013 and realizing it is time to upgrade. 1gb graphic card will not run anything new. Unfortunally no Micro Centers nearby me.

High-end competitive gaming nor upgrading with non-Dell motherboards is advertised.

460 Watt Power Supply sux if eventually upgrading the GPU
It looks like an upgrade up to 1000W power supply can be had. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...es_section

I was just about to post the same thing. This can be configured with up to 5080 graphics and a 1000W power supply. Just adding a 1000W PS option only adds $100.

Would this Dell computer be good to play Overwatch, Marvel Rivals and Valarant or would it be better to spend $200 more on this build from Microcenter?

https://www.microcenter.com/produ...-gaming-pc

It seems like the PowerSpec from Microcenter would be much more upgradeable going forward and probably worth the extra $200? Am I correct in that assumption? Also open to other suggestions for something that will comfortably play the games I mentioned without breaking the bank.

Quick PCPartPicker build just sorted lowest price and without an OS came out to ~$1300:

Unless something's changed, Dell's motherboards are pretty mid and their power supplies are trash. Expect the power supply to die within 2 years esp if you leave your pc on for a long period of time. Yes it costs more to build, but you will be getting better components.

I picked this up two days ago, but still have it in the box as was not sure how good a deal this is. Use is for heavy photography editing (not video) as my laptop that is only 18 months old can't always handle LR, PS & DXO files.
Yeah, I'm using DXO Photolabs 9 and an HP desktop I just got from Costco is not the fastest - so looking at this one as well

If it's really 1x32GB like the specs say, it's a blazing deal, although DDR5-5200 is weak.
If it's 2x16GB you can do decently from microcenter as they already have a $530 bundle that has a much better mobo, 265kf, and 2x16 DDR5-6000. You can get a much better case/psu/gpu on top of it.
