so it is a "buy X, get store credit of $x.xx free" promotion.
I miss the days when Home Depot would match the 11% and allowed you submit the rebate online vs mail in for Menards.

same here, never had any issues with the rebates.
In December 2025, Menards reached a $4.25 million multi-state settlement with ten states to resolve investigations into deceptive marketing practices regarding its 11% rebate program and allegations of price gouging during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The investigation found that Menards marketed its "11% off everything" program in a way that suggested an immediate discount at the register, while actually providing in-store merchandise credit for future purchases.
Key Terms of the Settlement
As part of the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, Menards agreed to the following changes to its business practices:
Advertising Changes: Prohibited from advertising the 11% rebate as a "point-of-purchase" discount and must clearly explain that it is a, in-store credit.
Rebate Submission Window: Customers must be allowed at least one year from the date of purchase to submit rebate claims.
Rebate Tracking: The online rebate tracker must be updated within 48 hours of a claim being entered into their system.
Rebates International Disclosure: Must clearly state that "Rebates International," which processes the rebates, is part of the Menards corporate structure.
Price Gouging Prohibition: Prohibited from raising prices on essential items during periods of abnormal economic disruption.
Online Improvements: Investigate and implement secure, efficient, and user-friendly online submission for rebates and online redemption for purchases.
Involved States
The multi-state investigation was led by attorneys general from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and included Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota.
Illinois received approximately $946,000.
Minnesota received over $632,000.
Wisconsin received over $750,000.
Iowa received over $400,000.
The settlement does not prevent individual private lawsuits, and Menards did not admit to wrongdoing as part of the agreement.
