Works fine for white noise or similar. I wouldn't listen to music, or even probably podcast, but it's not really meant for that anyway.
The speakers are about 1/4" thick, so no way you can side sleep on it. I just shift the bottom one, which happens to align the top one to my ear a bit better. Works quite sufficiently to drown out whatever Housewives episode is playing on the TV, thank you very much!
