That's a very good price considering this is a top of line Performance Platinum model of the largest 50 gal capacity and has the 12-year warranty instead of the 6-year (these warranties are directly correlated to the anode rod in these which is a more premium rod in this posted model that will last around 12 years instead of 6). So the way it works is Rheem has 3 grades, Performance, Performance Plus, Performance Platinum with 6 yr, 9 yr., 12 yr. warranties because the anode rod in each grade lasts 6 yrs, 9 yrs 12 years respectively. Other than that, all the tanks are basically the same manufacture wise whatever the grade.
But this is a tall model and I have to have a short model so I got the 40 gallon regular Performance Low NOx short model with the 6-year warranty for $529 on sale from home Depot a month ago. It is now $769 having come off the sale.
This one that is posted is a 50 gallon one so this is a really good deal if you can get it for the OP's price, but again, it is the tall model only which may not fit your area like it would not in my basement thus I needed a short model which is about 14 inches shorter in height.
