It is 58% of the price of the new generation model. Cheaper yet with the 4 pack.

No one had a problem with the 1st generation....but now a new updated model came out, folks act like the 1st gen is all of a sudden junk?

Was hoping on the off chance it'd be 2nd... but agreed, "eh..."

While not bad, the 2nd gen precision finding works a LOT better and from almost twice as far away in the reviews I've seen. So do with that what you will, plus 2nd gen has a louder speaker, before deciding if this deal is for you!

I'd like to see more real world results on the distance improvements of the gen 2 before I discard my still just fine gen 1 units.

Are there any tags that cant be detected? My partner is an alcoholic and often goes out to family events and drives home in questionable states with the kids. I want a way to see where they are.

Try an ankle monitor? If they're open, they should read The Easy Way to Stop Drinking by Allan Carr.

No, but there are other options and I had a similar situation..

Background:

1. my dog had a habit of digging under fence and going off hunting critters from time to time. As a result we got a GPS cellular tracker. Was called Whistle, now called TractiveGPS. Fi is another gps pet collar.

2. my mom had a neighbor that was constantly drunk. When her husband died, she still went to the bars pretty much every day and came home drunk...very drunk... most nights. On multiple occasions she was found unconscious in the driveway outside the vehicle, and sometimes the car had hit the house or garage, still in drive, and engine running.
Unfortunatly the police said they couldn't do anything unless she was found behind the wheel. Her minivan had lots of paint from other vehicles on front/rear bumpers and side... so she was hitting other cars, probably in the parking lot.

So..I took my dogs GPS collar and secured it to the frame near the rear bumper. The followng evening I saw she was at a local bar so I drove over and waited till she came out. She was staggering a bit... got in vehicle and drove to another bar. She actually drove fine, so I just observed. An hour later she came out, staggering...got in and started driving to some other place...not home as it was in a different direction. She weaved in out of the lane..stopped at traffic light 30ft back from line, etc etc. I called 911 to report drunk driver.
They arrived soon after. She was charged with DUI but taken home. Vehicle was towed to her home. I retrieved the GPS collar the next day.

Unfortunately after a week she started driving again... drunk... so I repeated the process and she was again citied for DUI, taken home and car impounded.

In the end she lost her license... her daughter moved in and has been taking care of her since.

That's my story... hope it made sense and helps you some how.

Added: Now you said partner... if you're both iphone user's share their location with you
"always". that way you can see where they are at all times. My entire family does this and find it helpful.
