These don't get super warm. It will be disappointing if you are expecting regular sauna performance

100%. Operating temp between 120-130f is a joke.

That would be a steam room. No oven = no sauna.

I've owned both an infrared and steam sauna. It's true the infrared do not get very warm. If you are looking for a real sauna experience buy a steam sauna.

Can this be converted to a garage office space instead?
I think the correct question is, why wouldn't you convert this to a garage office space

Yeah that won't even make you sweat. My infrared sauna gets up to 194F, I think I sweat around 165 and up, but not a lot until it's at least 180. Sure, infrared saunas heat tissue directly, but 130 is still too low, Get at least 160 or up, or I think 185 really if you want to sweat hard.

I've had one for over a decade (same brand older Vienna model). Takes around 70mins or so to heat up to 138F. Mine is in my home gym and I always work out just prior to getting in so no issue getting a good sweat going.

I had a PU failure around 7yrs in but the company sent me a replacement free of charge. I soldered a new fuse in the broken PU and ran it for a few more years fine before it finally completely died in the past year after which I installed the replacement PU and was back up and running in an hour.

All in all I have been very satisfied, just understand what you are getting and the limitations of a FAR sauna.
Wow I had no idea FAR sauna's took this long to warm up. Thanks for the info. We've been thinking about this or converting our walk-in shower to a steam room/sauna since we have access from the basement. I think the latter will be a better experience after further consideration...

It needs a dedicated 20 amp, 120v circuit.
So is that any standard outlet in a 2010s newer house?

It takes that long to reach max temp which is where I like it before I enter. It'll get up to 100 in 15mins, 120 in 30, etc. You can't directly compare the temps between infrared and traditional which is a common mistake people make.

No question a steam room / traditional sauna will be a better experience in my opinion if an option and within budget, These FAR ones serve a place though and mine has seen extensive use over the 10+ years we've had it. Low cost, low power, low maintenance, small footprint, no humidity.

Great points -- no or low chance of mold growing probably as well! That is definitely a thing we have to keep in check in our area/basements.

They don't, I literally posted I have the two person one to this and it takes 15 minutes to reach temperature in a basement room that is about 68 degrees. Something is very very wrong with his if it is taking 70 minutes to reach temperature. I have also looked at doing the same thing with my basement bathroom and it is not a small job. One of my old houses had a steam sauna and a steam shower and I really did not like the steam shower, loved my steam sauna though. There's a good book on Amazon also about building saunas, The Art of Building Saunas.

I have had both also and prefer the steam experience, however I have also found that if you actually have aches and pains, the infrared ones work better. I have been contemplating building a steam sauna in the same room next to my infrared one that would I would have the option for both.

Will adding couple space heaters improve the performance ?
