Last time I bought this for this price, I returned it the very next day. This unit locks all the better graphics and fonts behind a subscription. You have to pay like $9 a month to get full usage out of it. Only get this if you're OK with paying for using it forever or if you're OK with only using it for generic labels.

My kid wanted something like this, but all the other ones I've seen at reasonable prices require apps that grant full web access within them. This is the first one without that, and a good price and good reviews. I'll give it a shot.

This is how I thought about it before:
  • Niimbot labels are not much more expensive than third-party options.
  • They are good quality.
  • There is no guessing about compatibility because they just work.
  • The chip in the label is very convenient. When you load it, the printer automatically detects the label size, so nothing needs to be set.

My only complaint is that you have to use a USB-C cable to connect to a PC. I wish the Bluetooth connection worked on PC as well.

I am getting two more. They make perfect gifts.

I am sure that is what hp and cannon must have said before they shove down whole ink cartridge scam.I can't support this kind of anti-consumerism.

I have the B1. Yes, the max label size for it is 50mm x 80mm (equals approx 2" x 3 1/8").
But be aware that you have to use ONLY Niimbot brand labels in all their printer devices, as each label roll has a circuitry label attached to it that is required for the prinetr to even work. It won't work with any generic/cheaper labels.

Never seen something similar from Phomemo at this price point. Their smaller printer is on sale often but not this size.

Before you posted, you should have at least compared it to third-party labels and other brands.

But then you end up stuck with your own outdated knowledge and refuse to read and learn new things.

Also, if you read the reviews, you'll see that some people have tried other labels and they work. I am not buying them, though, because they are not any cheaper, and the chip that automatically sets the label size is incredibly convenient, not to mention the quality.

Your average consumer is also not that bright / tech savvy, or just quick to blame the device, not questionable quality aftermarket (or wrong) labels they added.

FWIW, cheapo printers purchase prices are subsidized by the expectation you'll buy more labels. There is a reason this thermal printer is $15 or an inkjet at Walmart only costs $29. They are losing money banking (almost literally) you'll keep using their branded supplies. Not they are selling at a loss because they really like you....no should you expect that.

Personally I wouldn't call you buying the cheapest thing an "anti-consumer" practice by the manufacturer, but nickeling and diming...yourself. As much as I hate the expression "buy once, cry once" it really applies here.

FWIW:
-the recommended Phomemo shipping label printer appears to cost $60+....that's a lot of labels you'll need to use for such pro-consumerism (non-subsidized printer) to pay off.
-Niimbot printers are supposed to be really easy to fool into using any label. Pretend problem solved and bonus points you are now sticking it to the man by NOT buying their labels Wink

I have phomemo and happily buying 2-3$ label rolls.
Doesn't matter if some user are able to hack and use other generic paper. Doesn't change the fact it's a shty move by shty company.
If you read my original comment, i said, I can't support such an anti-consumerist company.

You do you!
(Also I bought my label maker for 9 bucks)
