I use them to pay:

city property taxes & water bill
electric bill
gas bill
car lease payment
All to establishments that would charge a fee for CC pmt but no fee for debit.

not sure why you say that. I have bought and used tens of thousands of visa gift cards, both virtual and non virtual. the trick is to do your homework on how to use them..
Tens of thousands? Right.

As someone that doesn't understand why you're getting a gift card (let alone 4 or 5)
Is this a model to basically farm credit card rewards?

Beware, don't let your cash hang out too long on one of these. I received a $500 Mastercard through work and it was stolen within a few weeks because of the terrible security practices that Blackhawk Network uses. It took me months of emails to get the money back, even though I could prove it was stolen. They also knew the entire time that it was stolen, they knew all about their data breach, but they didn't tell me and made me jump through so many hoops to get the money back. Then after I did all that they sent out a notice that they were aware of a breach in their (sloppy) security. What a bunch of incompetent crooks.

Not to "use" but to liquidate. It's very easy to purchase these, turn them into cash, and keep the rewards.
whats the easy way to turn them into cash?

It's basically a 0% interest loan to Staples/Visa and the people posting on this thread are shills and/or idiots.

I'll tell you guys what, cash app me $200 and I'll give you $201 for you to use at a later time. Beats this deal by a dollar.
Do some reading - more like I'll cash app you $200 and expect $210 back in two weeks. Or cash app you $1k, expect $1k back in two weeks, and you can book a room for me at an L1 hyatt.
I think anyone doing this seriously is keeping in mind a target interest rate of .5% / month as well. Only the organized churner is winning when they know how to play the game.

It's not free, but if your goal is to just hit a spending requirement, you can purchase these and then instantly turn them into cash via PayPal/Venmo by sending to a friend/family/secondary account and eating the 3%, or getting a money order for much lower fee (also more work). Spending them on utilities, etc., spares the fees but requires time and effort.

Be careful when registering the card online. There are many spoof sights that look just like the visa site, don't use Google search, type the website directly into the URL bar.

I've had a few customers bring them to my store after xmas. It's unfortunate. There's no way to use them as some of these cards don't allow you to tie a billing address to them.
Are you confusing this with physical cards? These are virtual cards and no one is bringing them to your store.
