Use a smart outdoor plug and just schedule it to turn on every other day for a few hours. That's what I do and it works great. I could get fancier with home assistant, but I'm lazy and this seems to be working.

Why use outdoor rated? My EP10 TP Link plugs do 15amp no problem - I have my space heater on a similar schedule to preheat my office in the winters.

I have this exact one, installed by my HVAC techs, connected to the heat tape that they installed on my condensing furnace in the Attic.
I picked this up, as a spare... good to keep on hand, incase that one dies unexpectedly.
