CPU, RAM, and SSD would cost more than this if bought individually.

Missed this the other day... and for once, it got cheaper. It looks like the coupon might come off after state sales tax is added. Still a decent deal. 4% back at one cb site.

Not bad specs, but with these HP boxes you're basically locked in re: upgrades. I have the 5300G version of this of this line and the motherboard supports a whopping 3 CPUs, all cezanne.

Same here. On the other hand, I bagged mine for only $152, so hardly broke the bank. I've paid a further $55 for a 400w PSU and bought 32GB ram for $60 before the ram crisis. Final upgrade will be a RTX 3060 12GB, I bought for $209. If I had my time again, I'd probably have just bought this machine though.

CPU: $200 ish (also has 780m iGPU
RAM: $200-300
SSD: $100

So those three parts have already covered the cost. Rest is bonus

Also these support dGPU with 8pin power (1x8pin), so stuff like a 4060, 5060, even a 4070 should work just fine

Motherboard has no SATA ports, and there are no 5.25"/3.5" drive bays in the case

No different to gen 5 in real world use for most people.
