Be aware those who want to use this as a wifi smart device I recently received one that was Verizon locked. And was unable to get past the initial setup screen without a VALID Verizon SIM card. I tried an old card which didn't work successfully.

8GB of RAM is correct. Then it has the gimmick RAM Boost which is an optional feature that can be disabled in device settings.
