Those are very different descriptions. Were you told you use that option somewhere?

Good luck you're going to need it. In my case it was just an aggravating runaround that is becoming more the norm when dealing with T-Mobile.
Used to always go in store - but have done upgrades over the phone for the past year...This dedicated Costco Tmobile line seems to have the exact same access, promotions, waivers, and giftcards as going in store - saves a trip.. and I've never had any issues (so far)
