The imie1 for my tracfone moto g 5g 2024 gets error message when trying add as trade in. Barely used as backup phone and bought from best buy in August 2025. I am trading in a Samsung s8+ I bought replaceable sim card tray and power button since id rather not risk it. It does power on, screen surface scratches no cracks. It does have screen burn in from playing YouTube which seems to be known issue with that phone. significant cracks on glass backing
try entering the make and model for device then enter imei when it ask for it. this how i got a Motorola prepaid phone from the 2000s to work. if that fails contact t force and they can do it.

as far as device condition goes. its ANY CONDITION and I mean any condition. long as you have the imei put in correctly. that Motorola had no battery, cracked screen, no back cover and water damg. it will be processed successfully. Ive traded in a s8 with a screen smashed to bits and the frame bent. got my full trade value for any condition. No need to worry about sim tray or whatever. if it does power on make sure you wipe it.

If the promo is attached to one's account, would the trade-in value actually show $800? Or does that pop-up later in the process?
Trade in value is always 0 for these old broken phones. Promo gets added later to your account.

on the back I only see DEC and HEX. did you have IMEI in the back?
its the HEX which is 14 digits thats what you need. The website will reject this 14 digit string. there are hex to imei converts out there. if not contact T-Force and they can convert that into something usable for their system. i traded a device that had a hex. I know costco instore kiosk can do this as well. dont know about costco tmobile via phone.

Has anyone tried to get this promo to work, with the old-school SCNC (Simple Choice No Credit) Plan??

I assume that the SCNC Plan will not be eligible; but, I wanted to ask and see if this might be one of the very rare exceptions, to the rule.

It was not listed, but it was a listed promo in my account when I clicked on the phone. And it applied the deal when I went through the steps.
I have the one plan and the promo is listed in my account. Before I checked out through the app/website, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't get switched to another plan without my permission. So when I called T-Mobile to confirm that I wouldn't have to switch, the rep said that the $800 would not work on my legacy plan.

Has anyone confirmed you won't get switched yet?

Let's pretend your current bill is so cheap that for 10 lines, you only pay $160 per month. All lines have unlimited call, text, and data.

Because the monthly bill is so cheap for 10 lines, you will NEVER leave T-Mobile. This promo for a higher end phone comes out and is free after 2 years of credits. 2 years that you would stay with them, even if there was no free phone. So now, we can stay with them for 2 years with or without free phones.

That's why these 2 year credit phones are enticing to me and many others. Cheers!

Simple choice with 10 devices. Upgraded 2 phones to P10 for 97$ (service charge + tax) each via app. Hopefully these phones are good. I tried the P7 years back and it was glitchy, reboots, etc. I returned it for a S22u.
Simple choice deals are so RARE.
THANKS SD!!
