Went to 2 T-Mobile kiosks at 2 different Costco locations (Duluth & Buford, GA).

• First kiosk rep said upgrading would require changing my phone plan.
• Second kiosk rep said they couldn't process it in-store and that it was a T-Life app / online exclusive.

So I went home empty-handed.

Today I called the T-Mobile Costco phone number. I simply asked if my account was eligible for the $800 trade-in promo for Pixel 10. Boom — the rep actually knew what she was doing. She confirmed my account qualifies.

I told her to upgrade one line first. She then asked if I wanted to upgrade the other lines — I have up to 4 eligible (good sign).

Provided IMEIs for trade-ins (old Sprint LG Tribute Empire phones). Small hiccup: the system showed they were locked. She mentioned trade-ins must be unlocked and fully owned (not financed). I knew mine were unlocked and paid off, so I told her to proceed.

At the end, she reviewed the trade-in terms — T-Mobile only excludes lost, stolen, or financed devices. She also confirmed the $35 activation fee is waived and $100 Costco gift cards per line (after 16 weeks).

What a great start to the Lunar New Year 😎

Just tried to upgrade my second line. Called costco and the rep said the phone had to be carrier unlocked. Pretty sure that is not true. As long as it is paid off and not black listed should not be a problem. Using a flip phone form tracfone that I used to harvest minutes. Was never unlocked. Curious if any one else has done this. Other phone I'm trading in is very old. Can't even remember what service I used and don't think I knew what unlocking was then. Any feed back is appreciated. Looking forward to not thinking about this anymore Smilie
I just did this deal, and the rep also told me the trade-in phones must be unlocked. I've done many trade-ins with T-Mobile before and have always traded in locked phones without any issues. As long as the phones are not stolen, blocked, or financed, you should be good.

Thanks SD!
Was about able to trade in 3 iPhone 6 that I literally got out of dumpster diving a year ago one of them is "Find My iPhone" locked to previous owner, but the rep on the line said it's fine as long as imei is retrievable. Imei is printed on the back, so technically...
Did this thru Costco phone call. Rep named Diego was very knowledgeable and instantly knew the deal. It all took 50 minutes tho, mostly just waiting. He apologized many times - said their system is very slow today. But the guy was cool and knew everything. $35 fee removed, Costco gift cards will be mailed in 2-3 month. Trade in drop at the t-mo corporate store for faster and easier process.
I went to my local Costco for face to face transaction, but the guy there refused, said they only play by the rules and this promo is online only. So I had to call, but that was very easy anyways.
I'm on old magenta by the way, account age is 4 years and 1 month. 10 lines for $200 total with 3 or 4 lines free.
Thanks everyone for very useful comments and hints!
that one phone that is locked to previous owner through Apple's Find my Phone, will come back to haunt you when they take away your bill credits.

Did anyone happen to take advantage of this promotion on a line that also happens to have another recurring credit promotion on it and are receiving both credits? It may be too early to tell, but a Tmo rep told me that since one of the lines I have is already enrolled in another recurring credit promotion, this one would not apply and cited this part of the ToC: "May not be combinable with some offers, discounts, or promotions."

lol. ony of my lines has 5, yes, 5 attached EIP plans... all different.

Hmm, are you sure? They explicitly said the only real requirement is IMEI be visible anywhere. It's laser etched on the back, and you can check it via the menu on startup.
Or should I do something to it so that it won't turn on at all?

This looks like a great deal for the Pixel 10 Pro. I was hoping for this kind of a deal on a Samsung 24 or 25. Any suggestions?

Sorry your trade-in went for a swim, a tumble out of a car, then another swim, and now it won't turn on or boot up. Fortunately this promo is for any condition.

Did 2 phones yesterday but now I want to change to a different trade-in phone. Someone posted that they were able to make that change in their account to a different trade-in. Anyone has specific knowledge on how to do this without calling CostcoTmo? Thanks.

If it's an Orbic, Tracfone sold them unlocked. But T-mobile will take carrier locked phones anyways. To avoid the whole conversation, just tell them straight up to mark down that your trade-in is broken, unable to turn on, and water damaged (so there is no way for you to check if it's locked or not). If you qualify for the promo you will still get offered $800.

No issues trading my One+ 8 on an Obsidian on my line, just the usual fits and starts the website is notorious for. Wife's phone however had issues. Refused to recognize her IMEI, so I though I might have switched them out on the first order, so used the other One+ 8, order went through for the Indigo. Reviewing the two orders, both have the same One+ 8 IMEI as trade-in. Doh!
Costco is a 3 hour trip there and back with no guarantee of success, so I just did it on the website and suffered the Activation fees and no Gift Certificate 4 months from now. I'll give the Costco TMO phone line a try next time, if another deal pops up. Can't get too greedy. 11 lines @ $20/mo, happy to extend this for 2 years...

Looks like my kickstart plan qualified for pixel 10 but not iPhone 17. Tempting To just get it to keep around.

edit: anyone know if a phone without a battery will be taken in? plugged in imei and it says full credit with it not powering on since I don't have the battery for it anymore

Great deal. Unload non working crap in a drawer, do deal at Costco, so you only pay tax, which you can offset with $100/line.So phone is totally free (minus value of crapmaster in drawer) after 24 months. No way to complain about that.
Multiple Costco-T mobile folks confirmed that this deal does not qualify for that $100 Costco rebate!!!
