Called Costco/Tmobile line and went through almost the whole process then they said the offer is not available to their sales channel and was transferred to normal Telesale to complete order. Not sure if it's BS or legit reasoning.Anyways, this promo is better than the R260/R261 offered back in August-Oct since that one required a more premium trade-in device. I'm in for a Pixel 10 + S25 for taxes + trade in of Jitterbug senior citizen phones that cost me $14.
This is exactly what happened to me TWICE so must be legit!!!They're is no way to get that Costco $100 per line with this promo!!!

Hmm, are you sure? They explicitly said the only real requirement is IMEI be visible anywhere. It's laser etched on the back, and you can check it via the menu on startup.
Or should I do something to it so that it won't turn on at all?

hypothetically, I suggest your phone's charging port suddenly went out and can't charge anymore.....

Did 2 phones yesterday but now I want to change to a different trade-in phone. Someone posted that they were able to make that change in their account to a different trade-in. Anyone has specific knowledge on how to do this without calling CostcoTmo? Thanks.

Is it worth the risk and potential headache?

Asked Gemini about it - it said they can check by imei if it's FMI locked. So that the best strategy is just to try to do it in corporate, preferably experience store. It says that if the phone is accepted in store - that's it, we're golden. I'll try that and see. But yeah, thanks for advice. I'm contemplating disassembly and just popping up display and charger cable ribbons. This way it can't be interfaced anyhow Smilie

Multiple Costco-T mobile folks confirmed that this deal does not qualify for that $100 Costco rebate!!!
Called yesterday, promo was available as well as the 100$ Costco GCs.

The rep did tell me that the phone has to be activated on the line instead of just having to keep the line active, contrary to prior comments in this thread. Is this the case? If not I would have "upgraded" my phone as well. Knowing I might be actually upgrading to a newer iPhone, Huawei, or Oneplus later this year.

Please call again and confirm if Costco is listed in T-Mobile's "sales channel" list for this specific promo! They said the usual promos are listed but not this one!!! 🤷 ♂️

As many other people and I in this thread already did and confirmed, it works, just potentially not with all reps. Just HUCA - Hung Up and Call Again. One person had to call 4 times till he got a knowledgeable rep. Good luck.

I just did this deal, and the rep also told me the trade-in phones must be unlocked. I've done many trade-ins with T-Mobile before and have always traded in locked phones without any issues. As long as the phones are not stolen, blocked, or financed, you should be good.
Thanks. turns out I don't think the phones are locked but either way I think you are correct.

If it's an Orbic, Tracfone sold them unlocked. But T-mobile will take carrier locked phones anyways. To avoid the whole conversation, just tell them straight up to mark down that your trade-in is broken, unable to turn on, and water damaged (so there is no way for you to check if it's locked or not). If you qualify for the promo you will still get offered $800.
Thanks. Good to know as I still have another orbic and two TCL phones from Tracfone. Should have just said they were damaged for both of my trades. Going to corporate store tomorrow. Hope it all works out.

Dropped off the other two devices to a T-mobile store yesterday. All 4 lines are showing the financing information with the following details:

Plan start date: 02/12/26
Original Price: $799.99
Monthly charges (23 left): $33.34
Monthly Credits: $33.34
Remaining Balance: $799.99

No changes to the SC plan. I was able to get some credit back for the activation fees, given our long tenure with T-mobile.

The rep I spoke to yesterday confirmed that the phone DOESN'T have to be activated at all for this to work. I specifically asked her if it would work if I never powered the phone and just kept it in my drawer.

Those are it! I just forgot the exact words. I made sure all 4 of my trade in showed those. Along with the printed receipt at the store. This was an awesome promo. The dude was like, no way you're bringing in 10 years flip phones. lol

The rep, who processed my trade-ins, said "we should ship these directly to a museum" Smilie
