Did they ever improve this thing? This has been the only m18 tool that I was disappointed with. It just had no power for anything other than light sanding in my experience.

I paid $160ish on the woot 20% off thing like right after this thing came out and yeah it's probably my favorite overall sander now. Doesn't wobble. Doesn't beat my hands up. Fun to tinker with the form factor (you can sand holding the battery with two fingers and it's like a whole stoner Olympic event)
It will not run off and sand on its own like the Bosch with the same form factor, which is kinda a bummer. I sand a lot right now lol.

The earlier m18 grinder was total garbage and the only Milwaukee cordless tool I've returned that I can remember, hope this is better than that. All recent reviews are really good, I dont really trust reviews anymore but I think I'll give it a shot.

Wish it would let me choose the battery for pick up and the tool for shipping, but says they need to both be same delivery option for quite a while now

Worked for me, thanks!
I was able to choose a different pickup location for the battery so they don't both get put in a locker and I have to take them both and return the battery, will just pickup the sander and let the battery time out.

FYI home depot has been banning accounts over 'hacks' recently

Did this actually happen to you? I've been hearing this since 2016 or so and I've done it 30 times. Why wouldn't they just close the loophole of making individual items separately listed on the recept like everyone else does?

I have the newer model. I can't speak for the old model, but the newer model is very nice. No wobble, smooth, goes where you want it instead of it driving you.

Multiple people have reported getting banned. Not only is your online account banned but any credit card or shipping address associated with that same address is also banned, even if the card is in someone else's name.

I have no idea. The funny thing is the loophole was already closed, they have sold the exact same bundles both ways at the same time before

The original brushed sander was awful, this is the fuel model, so hopefully better.

With that said, I hate the original m18 sander so much I'm afraid to spend $120 to try this one.

Reported where though? People were talking about getting blacklisted for doing this when I started carpentry in 2016 or so (they were even mentioning some computer program that Home Depot uses to ID people who abuse the system), but everyone I work with does this multiple times a year and I've never met someone who has had any problems. It's certainly possible but would love if people who this happened to chimed in so we'd know the actual circumstances, like were they doing this in bulk to resell or is it random? I'd imagine it's pretty rare.

edit: looking through a few of the recent front page hack deals, all I see is someone said it happened to their brother but again no actual details...so I guess it probably happens, but if it were common I'd think there'd be hundreds of slickdealers who would've gotten blacklisted by now (me included).

30 times? You must have a garage full of red tools.

I have the older one and it's a piece of garbage. I thought it was broken, so i sent it in for warranty repair and they said it was working fine

Ha yeah, mostly for work besides the yard tools. Last time I went through my garage and truck I somehow had 4 different Milwaukee vacuums and 6 different work lights. Probably have worn out, lost, or broken half dozen drills and drivers and a few nail guns...oh yeah and I'm sure i have over 30 batteries between m12 and m18.

It happened to me i got banned. Been "hacking" for years on multiple brands. Had a pro account the entire time never had a problem. This past fall i bought a 115 5gal of primer on hd credit card next day i got online banned citing a temporary glitch. Support was clueless and i needed my receilts so i wrote the attorney general... Ive built a pretty vast tool collection hacking at least one tool and returning batteries or taking advantage of price errors. Didnt really want them looking into my account due to all these rumors. But 3 different employees told me my account was in good standing and nothing was wrong. Kept blowing me off telling me ill hear back never did. Then a couple weeks after i wrote attorney general a big d corporate guy emails me and starts really looking into it. Again thought they were going to just tell me you did all these bogo deals and just tell me to f off but he even told me i was a good customer and theres nothing to constitute a ban. We went back and forth with him coming up with ideas like maybe its my credit card(im using a home depot one 😅) meanwhile the bank is telling me the card is fine and its on home depot. Then told me my account was possibly flagged due to an ai program that targets accounts buying too many promotional sales. The entire time he told me hes working to get it reversed but to just make a new pro account and it will be fine. So loose all my pro rewards and receipts. Ended up trying that still couldnt order online. In my last email i thanked this man for the help and told him this is very frustrating as corporate doesnt even know why i would be banned. Literally the next day all communication stopped. Had to sign for a package it was a letter stating im banned from home depot for 3 years due to "emails disrupting store operations or having no business related matter". Cant even contact customer service with out risking a harrasment charge😅 and then the cherry on top was they responded to the attorney general by saying this customer is banned so they dont need to respond to inquiry. Even funnier i was just trying to exchange this broken planer they sold me

I spoke with a in-law who is a high up executive at HD about the hack, and he said it's not a big deal to them since they get paid by Milwaukee either way. That was about 2 years ago.
